Jake Gold (born April 4, 1958) is an American-born Canadian music manager. He was a judge on the Canadian Idol television program. [1] In addition to Idol participants, he has managed Canadian artists The Tragically Hip, The Watchmen, The Cliks, and Sass Jordan. [2]

Early life

Gold was born in New Jersey. His family moved to Toronto when he was a small child. [3]

Career

Gold started his management company, The Management Trust, in the 1980s. He managed the Tragically hip for seventeen years, ending in 2003, [4] and was also manager for the band Big Wreck. [5]

In 2002, Gold was chosen as a judge for the television talent contest show Canadian Idol, and he held this role for six seasons. [6]

The Management Trust (MGM Trust) later represented artists Adam Cohen and Crash Karma, as well as music producers me&john, Moe Berg, Russell Broom, Terry Brown, and Laurence Currie. [7] [8] [9] He has been awarded Manager of the Year three times by the Canadian Music Industry. [10]

Between 1996 and 2016, the Tragically Hip were the best-selling Canadian band in Canada and the fourth best-selling Canadian artist overall in Canada.

Canadian Idol is a Canadian reality television competition show which aired on CTV, based on the British show Pop Idol. The show was a competition to find the most talented young singer in Canada, and was hosted by Ben Mulroney. Jon Dore was the "roving reporter" for the first three seasons. Elena Juatco assumed the role for season four, Dave Kerr had the role in season five and Jully Black in season six.

The fourth season of Canadian Idol began in February 2006 ran until September 2006. Zack Werner, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan, and Farley Flex returned to judge, and Ben Mulroney returned to host, with Elena Juatco as the new roving reporter. The season premiered on May 29, five days after the finale of American Idol Season 5. The Canadian Idol title was awarded to competitor Eva Avila on September 17, 2006.

The fifth season of Canadian Idol is the fifth installation of the Idol series in Canada. It was again hosted by Ben Mulroney, with Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner all returning as judges. The show premiered on June 5, 2007 with a 90-minute episode. Voting began during the fourth week. New events introduced that season included the Help Idols build a house and the Kraft Confidential with David Kerr. The elimination song for this year was Walk on Home by Kalan Porter. The final episode of the season was broadcast on September 11, 2007 when Brian Melo was crowned Canadian Idol.

Brian Tichy, is an American musician, songwriter and record producer, best known as having been the drummer for Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Foreigner, Sass Jordan, and Ozzy Osbourne. He was the drummer of Whitesnake from 2010 to 2013. His surname means silent in Czech and Slovak. In 2015, he became a full-time member of Operation: Mindcrime and The Dead Daisies.

The sixth and final season of Canadian Idol is the sixth and final installation of the Idol series in Canada and premiered on June 3, 2008, on the CTV Television Network. It is again hosted by Ben Mulroney, with the addition of Jully Black as a special correspondent and general mentor to the contestants. Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner all returned as judges. This season saw a number of major and minor show format changes in an effort to keep the franchise fresh and innovative. The final episode of the season, in which the Canadian Idol was crowned, aired on September 10, 2008. The winner of the sixth season was Theo Tams. The sixth season became the final season of Canadian Idol following its cancellation in 2009.

Loren Gold Musical artist

Loren Gold is an American keyboardist, vocalist, music director, and songwriter. Gold has been the keyboardist and backup vocalist for The Who since 2012, and Roger Daltrey since 2009. Other artists he has toured with include Kenny Loggins, Don Felder, Natalie Maines, and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks. Gold has been musical director for pop stars Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Hilary Duff, and he continues to build and develop bands for other artists. Gold has published two instructional books through his collaboration with Alfred Music, and his original compositions have been featured on HBO and Showtime. In addition to his music career, Loren works as an agent in Southern California alongside prominent real estate figure Josh Flagg from television's Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.

Ahead by a Century 1996 single by The Tragically Hip

"Ahead by a Century" is a song by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip. It was released as the lead single from the band's fifth studio album, Trouble at the Henhouse. The song reached number one on Canada's singles chart, and is the band's most successful single in their native Canada. It was one of the ten most played songs in Canada in 1996. The song was nominated for "Best Single" at the 1997 Juno Awards. The song was certified platinum in Canada in 2016.

Martin Kirkup is a British-born music industry executive. He is a founding partner of the Los Angeles-based Direct Management Group.
