Jake Inglis (born August 16, 1989) is a Canadian former soccer player who played as a defender.

Youth career

Inglis played his youth soccer in his native Kitchener area with Kitchener Spirit. [1] In 1999, he traveled with the under-11 team to Kingston, where Kitchener won the under-11 Ambassador Cup. [2] He played his high school soccer with Resurrection Catholic Secondary School. [3] In the 2005 season, he helped his high school team win the District 8 title and was named to the district's all-star team. [4] [5] Inglis also began playing with Etobicoke Energy to compete in the 2005 under-17 Ontario Cup tournament. [6] [7] In his senior year with Resurrection, the team reached the final of the 2006 Phoenix Cup where Holy Cross of Woodbridge defeated them in a penalty shootout. [8] He also was named to the 2006 District 8 all-star team. [9]

Club career

Scotland

After graduating from Resurrection Catholic Secondary School, he ventured abroad by securing an under-19 contract with Scottish side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. [10] [11] In 2008, he joined Brora Rangers and played in the 2008–09 Scottish Cup. [12]

He played in the Scottish Third Division with Elgin City the following season. [13] Inglis made 14 appearances in his debut season. [14] He re-signed with Elgin for the following campaign. [15] In his final season in the Scottish circuit, he made 16 appearances and recorded 1 goal. [14] After two seasons in northern Scotland, he left the club in the summer of 2011. [16]

Canada

In the summer of 2012, he returned to Canada to play in the Southern Ontario-based Canadian Soccer League with SC Waterloo Region. [17] He re-joined Waterloo for the 2013 season. [18] In his second season in the Canadian circuit, he helped Waterloo secure a playoff berth in the league's first division. [19] Waterloo's opponents in the opening round were Brampton City United where they advanced to the next round. [20] The club advanced to the championship final by defeating Toronto Croatia in the following round. [21] Inglis participated in the championship match where Waterloo defeated Kingston FC for the title. [22]

In 2014, he re-signed with Waterloo with a two-year contract. [23] He helped Waterloo secure another playoff berth throughout the 2014 campaign. [24] The club's playoff journey concluded in the preliminary round after a defeat by Toronto Croatia. [25] His final season with Waterloo was in the 2015 season. [26] He aided the club by securing their third consecutive postseason berth. [27] In the playoff quarterfinal round, Waterloo defeated Toronto Atomic. [28] Waterloo qualified for the championship final by eliminating the Serbian White Eagles. [29] In the finals, they were defeated by Toronto Croatia. [30]

His cousin Zachary Ellis-Hayden was also a professional soccer player. [31]

SC Waterloo Region is a professional Canadian soccer team that plays in the Canadian Soccer League, a non-FIFA-sanctioned league. The club was formed in 2011 under the name KW United FC and competed in the Second Division of the CSL. The following year the organization's name was changed to SC Waterloo Region and was promoted to the First Division. Within a short time Waterloo enjoyed a string of success within the league. Their biggest achievement came in the 2013 season by winning the CSL Championship, and reaching the championship match finals once more in 2015 only to lose to Toronto Croatia. In 2016, the organization voluntarily relegated itself to the CSL Second Division.

The 2012 Canadian Soccer League season was the 15th since its establishment where a total of 28 teams from Ontario and Quebec took part in the league. The season began on 5 May 2012, and concluded on 27 October 2012. Toronto Croatia defended their championship in a 1–0 victory over the Montreal Impact Academy in the CSL Championship final at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto. Montreal became the second Quebec club after Trois-Rivières Attak to reach the final, while Toronto added more silverware to their cabinet by winning the double during the regular season. In the Second Division SC Toronto B won their first Second Division championship, and TFC Academy II secured the regular season title.

The 2018 Canadian Soccer League season was the 21st season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season began on May 13, 2018, and concluded on October 13, 2018, with the CSL Championship final held at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario. FC Vorkuta won their first championship by defeating Scarborough SC in a penalty shootout. Vorkuta found further success in the Second Division by winning their first CSL double after defeating Halton United in the finals. Meanwhile FC Ukraine United claimed the First Division title.

The 2018 season was Scarborough SC's fourth season in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season official commenced on May 19, 2018, in an away match against FC Ukraine United. The season proved to be a successful one as Scarborough managed to compete in the top four and ultimately secured a playoff berth by finishing fourth in the First Division. In the postseason tournament Scarborough successfully defeated Hamilton City SC, and FC Ukraine in the earlier rounds in order to reach the CSL Championship final for the second straight season. Their opposition in the finals were FC Vorkuta, but ultimately were defeated in a penalty shootout.

The 2018 season was SC Waterloo Region's eighth season in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season official commenced on June 2, 2018 in a home match against SC Real Mississauga. Overall the season was a successful one for the club as they finished in the top four by finishing third in the First Division. The previous time Waterloo finished in the top four was in 2015. In the postseason Waterloo defeated the Serbian White Eagles FC, but were eliminated in the semifinals to FC Vorkuta.The club's top goalscorer was Miodrag Kovacevic, a former player in the Serbian First League with six goals.
