Jake Stormoen is an American actor known for his role as Dagen in the Mythica film series and as Captain Garret Spears in the fantasy-adventure drama television series The Outpost.

Early life and career

Jacob Leif Stormoen was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US. [1] to parents of Norwegian descent. Stormoen grew up in Minneapolis along with his younger sister Anna Stormoen. [1] After graduating from high school in the U.S, he enrolled at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba, [2] Queensland, Australia, [1] where he obtained a Bsc Arts in Creative Media. [1] After being a waiter for 6 months, he returned to the United States, to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting. [3] Stormoen is friends with Kristian Nairn, the actor who plays Hodor in Game of Thrones , [4] the friendship developed online whilst in High school, playing World of Warcraft (WoW). [4] Stormoen later co-starred with Nairn in the Kurt Knight horror thriller film The Appearance in 2018. [5] In 2015, Stormoen won the 'Best Supporting Actor' award at the Utah Film Festival for his performance as Airk in the fantasy film The Christmas Dragon. [6] Apart from acting, he has also worked as a writer and associate producer in a couple of short films. [1]

In 2014, Stormoen landed his first major role as Dagen in the Arrowstorm fantasy-adventure drama film Mythica: A Quest for Heroes , [7] a franchise where he starred in 4 more films, Mythica: The Necromancer and Mythica: The Darkspore in 2015, [7] then Mythica: The Godslayer and Mythica: The Iron Crown in 2016. [1] Stormoen's inherent love for and being a life-long fan of fantasy and science fiction, is the main reason why he enjoys working for the Utah-based production company, Arrowstorm Entertainment, because they specialise in that genre. [8]

In 2018, Stormoen continued his success with Arrowstorm Entertainment in a lead role as Captain Garret Spears in The CW's fantasy-adventure drama television series The Outpost , alongside Jessica Green and Anand Desai-Barochia. [9] [10] The CW announced that series 3 of The Outpost will be extended by a further 13 episodes in 2020. [11] In 2023, he directed Mythica: Stormbound , the sixth film in the Mythica_(film_series) .

The Outpost is an American fantasy-adventure drama television series, acquired by The CW, which premiered on July 10, 2018. It was produced by Syfy's international channels for international broadcast. The series was renewed for a third season in October 2019 which premiered on October 8, 2020. Ahead of the third-season premiere, the series was picked up for an additional 13 episodes which ultimately became the fourth season. In September 2021, the series was canceled after four seasons and concluded on October 7, 2021.

Mythica is a series of primarily direct-to-video fantasy films. The films are produced by Arrowstorm Entertainment, with first film Mythica: A Quest for Heroes being partly funded by a Kickstarter campaign that collected $94,294. There are five films in the Mythica series, all produced and co-written by Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin. The films star Melanie Stone as Marek, an escaped slave girl and budding magician, and co-star Kevin Sorbo as Gojun Pye the magician who trains her, along with Adam Johnson, Jake Stormoen, and Nicola Posener as those that team up with Marek on various quests together.
