The Sabak Bernam District is a district and a parliamentary constituency in north-western Selangor, Malaysia. It is bordered by the state of Perak to the north, the district of Hulu Selangor to the east, the district of Kuala Selangor to the south, and the Straits of Malacca to the west. Bernam River forms its border with Perak. Towns in Sabak Bernam include Sabak, Sungai Besar and Sekinchan. This area is also famous for its residents of Javanese descent.

The road connects Asam Jawa near Kuala Selangor to Kepong near Kuala Lumpur. It is a main route to Kuala Lumpur from Federal Route 5. Federal Route 54 became the backbone of the road system linking Kuala Selangor to Kuala Lumpur before being surpassed by the Kuala Lumpur–Kuala Selangor Expressway E25 in 2011.

Selangor Football Club, commonly referred to as Selangor F.C. or Selangor is a Malaysian professional football club based in the city of Shah Alam, Selangor, that currently competes in the Malaysia Super League, the top tier of Malaysian football. The club is nicknamed the Red Giants. Officially founded in 1936 by the Football Association of Selangor (FAS), the association built its football development as a result of a merger with the Selangor Association Football League and forming the professional football team known as Selangor FA. On 2 October 2020, the club officially made its privatization under a new entity as Selangor Football Club after it was officially approved by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) on 29 September 2020. The club currently plays its home games at the 25,000–capacity Petaling Jaya Stadium after the club's original home ground, the Shah Alam Stadium, was closed to undergo major renovation and rebuilding work which was prolonged for an extended period of time. On 15 July 2022, the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Amirudin Shari, stated that the Selangor government have appointed the Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) to refurbish the stadium and its surrounding sporting facilities with a cost of up to RM787 million, that will start in early 2023.

Selangor Football Club II , commonly referred to as Selangor F.C. II, is a professional Malaysian football reserve team club of Selangor F.C., based in Shah Alam, in the state of Selangor. The club are nicknamed the Young Giants. Founded in 1967 as part of the sports and recreation club for the Selangor State Development Corporation. The club were formerly known as PKNS F.C. when the club was merged with the Football Association of Selangor, then converted into a reserve team under Selangor F.C. and were rebranded as Selangor F.C. II. The club are currently playing in the Malaysia Premier League and play their home games at UiTM Stadium with a 10,000-seater capacity.

He also served as Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) from September 2014 to his promotion to the Menteri Besarship in June 2018. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the state ruling but federal opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
