James A. Squires

James A. Squires is an American railroad executive who was the president, chief executive officer, and executive chairman of Norfolk Southern Railway until his retirement on May 1, 2022; Squires had left the presidency on December 1, 2021. [1]

Squires was born in Hollis, New Hampshire, and has degrees from Amherst College and the University of Chicago Law School. [2] He joined Norfolk Southern in 1992, and after working his way up the executive chain at the company was promoted to president in 2013. [3] He was appointed to the CEO position, replacing Charles Moorman, in June 2015, and later in the year took over Moorman's role as Executive Chairman of NS' board as well. [3]

Robert Buckner Claytor was an American railroad administrator. He became President of the Norfolk and Western Railway in 1981 and was instrumental in the merger of the Southern Railway and the Norfolk & Western in 1982. He was the first chairman and CEO of the new Norfolk Southern, and is credited with locating the headquarters of the Fortune 500 company in Norfolk, Virginia, within sight of the massive coal pier at Lambert's Point on the Elizabeth River at Hampton Roads.

Robert Alan Iger is an American media executive who is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Walt Disney Company. Other directorships: Caterpillar Inc.; Delta Air Lines, Inc.; Georgia-Pacific Corporation; Norfolk Southern Railway, and Texas Instruments Incorporated. He attended Duke University and Harvard Law School. He was chosen as the Railroader of the Year by industry trade journal Railway Age for 1998 and again in 2005.

Matthew K. Rose is the former chairman and CEO of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., serving in that role from 2002 to December 31, 2013. In December 2013, Rose's role was shifted to that of executive chairman, renewing speculation he might be in line to replace Warren Buffett at Berkshire's helm.

Charles Wickliffe "Wick" Moorman IV is an American businessman and railroader. Moorman is currently a consultant with Amtrak, where he formerly served as president and CEO as well as co-CEO. Prior to his hiring by Amtrak, Moorman served as chairman, president and CEO of Norfolk Southern Railway. At Norfolk Southern, he succeeded David R. Goode on February 1, 2006. Moorman served as president from 2004 to 2013 and chief executive officer from 2005 until his initial retirement in 2015.

Frederick Blair Wimbush, is a retired American railroad executive and lawyer. He continues to be a civic and professional leader. From 1980 to 2004, Wimbush progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in the Norfolk and Western Railway Company and Norfolk Southern Corporation Law Departments, including senior general counsel in 2002. In June 2004, he was elected vice president, real estate of Norfolk Southern Corporation, parent company of Norfolk Southern Railway Company. In November 2007, he became the first, and as of August 11, 2012, the only, executive level Corporate Sustainability Officer in the railroad industry, in addition to his real estate position. He managed several large conservation and energy efficiency projects for the company and has spoken on corporate sustainability at several corporate and educational conferences. He retired from Norfolk Southern Corporation after 35 years of service on May 1, 2015. Wimbush has served on the boards of the Hampton Roads Association of Commercial Real Estate, Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, and the Monarch Bank Norfolk City Board. On April 4, 2015, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced that Wimbush had been appointed to the Virginia Port Authority board. On June 24, 2016, Governor McAuliffe reappointed Wimbush to a full five-year term ending June 30, 2021.

Dave Rosenfield was an American Minor League Baseball executive who operated the Norfolk Tides from the team's inception in 1963 until 2011. He was named King of Baseball in 2004 and was inducted into the International League Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in April 2016.

Claude Mongeau is a Canadian railroad executive who served as the president and chief executive officer of Canadian National Railway (CNR) from January 1, 2010, to July 1, 2016. The 21st Century Steam program was conducted by the Norfolk Southern Railway from 2011 to 2015, featuring four classic steam locomotives pulling passenger excursions along Norfolk Southern rails in the eastern United States. The last train was to be Southern 4501's Piedmont Limited excursion trip from Atlanta, Georgia, to Toccoa, Georgia, but cancelled on October 1 due to Hurricane Joaquin.
