James Dagg

James Dagg is a New Zealand sailor who has competed in multiple America's Cups.

Dagg joined Team New Zealand in 1996 as a trimmer. He was part of their 2000 America's Cup defence. [1]

He sailed in their 2003 America's Cup loss and remained with the team for their 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup victory and 2007 America's Cup loss. [2]

He sailed in the 2010 Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland, and the 2010 and 2011 Extreme Sailing Series. [3] [4] He was part of Team New Zealand's 2011–13 America's Cup World Series campaign and their 2013 America's Cup loss. [5] [6] [7] [8] He then sailed with them in the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series before missing out on a retainer contract and leaving the team. [9]

He joined Bella Mente Racing in 2014. [10]

2007 Louis Vuitton Cup

The 2007 Louis Vuitton Cup held in Valencia, Spain, from April 16 to June 6 was the event used to select the challenger for the 2007 America's Cup. Eleven potential challengers competed in the competition which consisted of two round robins, two semi-finals and a final. The winner was Emirates Team New Zealand, who challenged the defender Alinghi in June 2007 for the America's Cup.

John Cutler is a competitive sailor for New Zealand who won a bronze medal in the Finn Class at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. He was also selected for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and was a sailing coach for the New Zealand team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Cutler has subsequently competed for a number of different syndicates in the America's Cup. He was born in Manchester, England.

Don Cowie, born 5 January 1962 in Palmerston North, New Zealand, is a former competitive sailor who won a Silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Cowie teamed with ex-American Rod Davis in the Star class to finish second to the American crew.

Roderick Hopkins "Rod" Davis is a former competitive sailor who won Olympic medals for two countries. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, representing the United States, he won the gold medal in the Soling class along with Robert Haines and Edward Trevelyan. After moving to New Zealand he was chosen to represent that country at the next three Olympic Games. Along with Don Cowie he won a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain in the Star class.

The Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland was the second in a scheduled series of regattas that compete for the Louis Vuitton Trophy. The regatta was held in Auckland between 7–21 March 2010. The Louis Vuitton Trophy format uses existing International America's Cup Class yachts loaned to the regatta by various America's Cup racing syndicates, keeping costs low for the competing teams.

The AC72 is a wingsail catamaran box rule, governing the construction and operation of the yachts to be used in the 2013 Louis Vuitton Cup and the 2013 America's Cup. The class was subsequently replaced by the smaller AC50 class.
