Dr. James Woodward is an aeronautical engineer, professor, and past chancellor of University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

James Woodward was born in Sanford, Florida and grew up in Columbus, Georgia. He married his childhood sweetheart at the age of sixteen. Shortly after he graduated from high school and attended Auburn University. He decided he wanted to be an Aeronautical Engineer, so he enrolled in the School of Aeronautics at Georgia Tech where he graduated first in his class in 1961. He received his master's degree in 1962 and his PhD in engineering mechanics in 1967. Upon receiving his degree he taught as an Associate Professor of Engineering Mechanics at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. He was promoted to the rank of captain. [1]

In 1968 Woodward moved his family back down south and began teaching at North Carolina State University. In 1969 he accepted a tenured position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he would eventually serve as the Dean of the School of Engineering and the Senior Vice President. [1]

In 1989 Dr. Woodward began his long career as the Chancellor of the UNC Charlotte succeeding Chancellor E. K. Fretwell. Under Woodward enrollment grew to 19,000 students. He continued the growth of the Graduate School at UNCC and added new doctoral programs. He oversaw the largest fundraising campaign the school had ever seen as well as construction of several new buildings on campus. Woodward retired in 2005. Woodward Hall, the home of the College of Computing and Informatics, was dedicated in Woodward's honor in 2005. In 2009 the UNC System asked Woodward to be the Interim Chancellor of NC State University. [1] [2]

Junkins is an American academic and a distinguished professor of aerospace engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University specializing in spacecraft navigation, guidance, dynamics, and control. He holds the Royce E. Wisenbaker Endowed Chair at Texas A&M University and also serves as the Founding Director of the Hagler Institute for Advanced Study at Texas A&M University, since its founding in December 2010. On November 24, 2020, Junkins was announced as the interim President of Texas A&M University starting January 2021. He was the interim president until May 31, 2021.

Steven G. Rogelberg is Chancellor's Professor at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is a professor of Organizational Science, Management, and Psychology and the founding Director of Organizational Science at UNC, Charlotte. He has over 100 publications addressing issues such as team effectiveness, leadership, engagement, health and employee well-being, meetings at work, and organizational research methods. He is editor of the Journal of Business and Psychology. Dr. Rogelberg has received over $2,500,000 of external grant funding including from the National Science Foundation. 

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2019 University of North Carolina at Charlotte shooting</span> Mass shooting in Charlotte, North Carolina

A school shooting took place at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on April 30, 2019. The event, which occurred on the last day of classes for the spring semester, sent six people to the hospital, two of whom were dead upon arrival, and left three others in critical condition. The shooting occurred inside a classroom in the Woodford A. Kennedy Building while students were giving a final presentation. The perpetrator, a former UNCC student named Trystan Andrew Terrell, was arrested shortly afterwards. In September 2019, he pleaded guilty to the murders and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band</span>

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band, also known as The Pride of Niner Nation, and PNNMB is the official marching band for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. They perform at every Charlotte 49ers home football game at Jerry Richardson Stadium and also at various other events such as away football games, pep rallies, parades, and special observances. A partial band usually travels to at least one away game a year. The band includes the Colorguard and Batton Twirler. Members of the PNNMB also participate in Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band, and the 49ers Basketball Band.
