Lehlohonolo James Letuka is a South African politician who served as a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature for the Democratic Alliance from May 2014 until May 2024. Letuka is the father of Patricia Kopane, the party's former provincial leader in the Free State.
Letuka was involved in the Black Consciousness Movement during the establishment of the South African Student Congress. [1]
Letuka joined the Democratic Alliance and was elected to the Free State Provincial Legislature at the provincial election on 7 May 2014. [2] The DA was accused of nepotism, since Letuka is the father of the party's provincial leader Patricia Kopane. Letuka dismissed the allegations. [1] He was sworn in as a member of the provincial legislature (MPL) on 21 May 2014 and the party appointed him as their caucus chairperson. [2]
In March 2016, the DA selected him as their mayoral candidate for the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality ahead of national municipal elections. [3] The African National Congress retained control of the municipality and Letuka remained an MPL.
Letuka was re-elected for a second term as a provincial legislature member in 2019. [4] Letuka left the provincial legislature in May 2024.

Sarah Matawana "Olly" Mlamleli is a South African politician who served as the mayor of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality from August 2016 until August 2020. A member of the African National Congress, she served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements from February 2012 to August 2016. In 2020, Mlamleli was ousted as Mayor of Mangaung and arrested over a controversial asbestos contract stemming from her time with the MEC.
Werner Horn is a South African lawyer and politician who has been one of three House Chairpersons in the National Assembly of South Africa since July 2024. He has served as a Member of Parliament since May 2014 and before that, he was a councillor of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality between 2006 and 2014. Karabo Lerato Khakhau is a South African politician and a Member of the South African National Assembly for the Democratic Alliance since November 2022. Prior to this, she served as a DA Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature from May 2019 until November 2022. Aged 21 years at the time of her election to the Provincial Legislature, she became the youngest ever Member of Provincial Legislature in South Africa. Khakhau is a former President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Town (UCT) for the council term 2017/18. In this election she received the highest number of votes amongst all candidates in the institution.
Kwekwe William Bulwane is a South African politician who has been a member of the Free State Provincial Legislature since May 2019. He had previously served as an MPL in April 2018. Bulwane had previously served in the Free State Executive Council as the Member of the Executive Council for Agriculture and Rural Development from May 2019 to October 2021 and as the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport from October 2021 until his demotion from the Executive Council in March 2023.
Makalo Petrus Mohale is a South African lawyer and African National Congress politician who served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in the Free State from 2023 until 2024. He had previously been the MEC for Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) from May 2019 until March 2023. Mohale is the provincial chairperson of the African National Congress Youth League.
The 2019 Free State provincial election was held on 8 May 2019, concurrently with the 2019 South African general election, to elect the 30 members of the Free State Provincial Legislature.
Thabo Manyoni is a South African politician who was the Mayor of Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality from 2011 to 2016. He represented his party, the African National Congress (ANC), in the Free State Executive Council from 2009 to 2011 and in the National Assembly from 2016 to 2017. Before that, she was Speaker of the Free State Provincial Legislature from 2015 to 2019. She is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
Malitaba Sarah Moleleki is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State Provincial Legislature since 2014. Before that, she was the Mayor of Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State until her resignation in September 2013.
Vusimusi William Tshabalala is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State Provincial Legislature since 2019.
