James McManus (born 15 January 1986) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. A New South Wales State of Origin representative, he played for the Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League as a winger.
McManus was born in Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and moved to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia at the age of nine after his father died and his mother married an Australian man. [3] McManus played his junior rugby league for the Katherine Bushrangers, and later for the Palmerston Raiders in Northern Territory Rugby League competition, [4] and graduated to the Northern Territory Institute of Sport's rugby league programme. He was signed by the Newcastle Knights while playing for the Northern Territory in Darwin in the Australian under-18s championships in 2003. [5]
McManus played for the Knights in the Jersey Flegg Cup before graduating to their NSWRL Premier League team. [3] He made his NRL début during the 2007 Newcastle Knights season. He was selected for Country in the City vs Country match on 8 May 2009. [6] McManus got injured after playing one match for New South Wales rugby league team for the 2009 State of Origin series, therefore didn't take part in the rest of the series and resulting in McManus missing the second half of 2009 and the first half of 2010. On 13 March 2013, McManus re-signed with the Knights on a 3-year contract. [7]
3 years after McManus' début in representative football, he returned to the representative arena, being selected for Country Origin again in 2012. On 7 July, McManus was named for the 2013 State of Origin decider following a string of strong performances at club level. [8] For the third and deciding game of the 2013 State of Origin series McManus was selected as wing for New South Wales, and scored a try in the Blues' loss. McManus finished the 2013 NRL season as the league's equal leading try scorer with 19 for the regular season. He shared the award with David Simmons of Penrith and David Williams from Manly. McManus was selected on the wing for New South Wales for Game 3 of the 2014 State of Origin series.
On 3 May 2015, McManus played for New South Wales Country against New South Wales City in the 2015 City vs Country Origin. [9] He scored a try.
After suffering a concussion in Round 20 of the 2015 season, McManus was sidelined for the rest of the year and it was speculated that he would be forced to retire. [10] On 2 February 2016, it was announced that he would sit out the 2016 season and work through his options. [11] He officially announced his retirement from rugby league on 10 August 2016. [12]
He was eligible to play for the Scottish national rugby league team as he was born in Scotland. [13] [14]
Craig Gower is an Italian-Australian former professional rugby league and rugby union footballer who played in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. He is a dual-code rugby international, having played rugby league for Australia and rugby union for Italy. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australian Kangaroos representative halfback or hooker, he played in the National Rugby League for Sydney club the Penrith Panthers. Gower then switched rugby union, playing for French Top 14 side Bayonne, and through grandparentage represented Italy. He returned to rugby league with the London Broncos in the Super League and then finished his playing career with one more National Rugby League season at the Newcastle Knights.
Danny Buderus is an Australian rugby league commentator, coach and former professional footballer who played in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. An Australian international and New South Wales State of Origin representative hooker, he played in the National Rugby League for Australian club, the Newcastle Knights, with whom he won a Dally M Medal, and the 2001 NRL Premiership before setting a new record for most games with the club. Buderus also played in the Super League for English club, the Leeds Rhinos, with whom he won 2011's Super League XVI. He set the record for most appearances as captain of the New South Wales State of Origin team at 15 and for most consecutive appearances for the side at 21. Buderus also played representative football for the Exiles and New South Wales Country. In 2015, he took up an interim coaching role with the Knights and continued as an assistant coach in 2016.
Beau Scott is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s in the National Rugby League (NRL). An Australia international and New South Wales State of Origin representative second-row, he could also play centre and lock. He played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, St. George Illawarra Dragons, the Newcastle Knights and the Parramatta Eels.
Chris Houston is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the Widnes Vikings in the Super League. He played as a second-row, lock and prop and previously played for the St. George Illawarra Dragons and Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League.

A Country New South Wales representative second-row, McKinnon also played lock and centre. He started his career with the St George Illawarra Dragons before moving to the Newcastle Knights in 2012.

Coached by Wayne Bennett and captained by Kurt Gidley, they competed in the NRL's 2013 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season in 7th place, thus reaching the finals. The Knights then came within one match of the grand final but were knocked out by eventual premiers, the Sydney Roosters.
