The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is a public graduate school operated by the United States Navy and located in Monterey, California.
Hispanic and Latino Admirals in the United States Navy can trace their tradition of naval military service to the Latino sailors, who have served in the Navy in every war and conflict since the American Revolution. Prior to the Civil War, the highest rank reached by a Latino-American in the Navy was commodore. Such was the case of Commodore Uriah Phillips Levy (1792–1862), a Sephardic Jew of Latin American descent and great grandson of Dr. Samuel Nunez; Levy served in the War of 1812. During the American Civil War, the government of the United States recognized that the rapid expanding Navy was in need of admirals therefore, Congress proceeded to authorize the appointment of nine officers the rank of rear admiral. On July 16, 1862, Flag Officer David Glasgow Farragut became the first Hispanic-American to be appointed to the rank of rear admiral. Two years later (1864), Farragut became a vice admiral, and in 1866 the Navy's first full admiral. During World War I, Robert Lopez, the first Hispanic graduate of the United States Naval Academy, served with the rank of commodore in command of the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, and during World War II five Hispanics served with the ranks of rear admiral or above in either the European or Pacific Theaters of the war. As of April 2007, twenty-two Hispanic-Americans have reached the rank of admiral, and of this number thirteen were graduates of the USNA.

On 13 February 2023, Rear Admiral Chatfield was nominated for promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral and assignment as the U.S. military representative to the NATO Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on 13 December 2023.

Charles Bradford "Brad" Cooper II is a United States Navy vice admiral who has served as the deputy commander of United States Central Command since February 2024. He most recently served as commander of United States Naval Forces Central Command, Commander, United States Fifth Fleet and Commander, Combined Maritime Forces from 2021 to 2024. He previously served as Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic and, before that, as the Chief of Legislative Affairs of the United States Navy.
Ricky Lee Williamson is a retired United States Navy vice admiral who last served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics from June 27, 2019 to December 2023. He previously served as the Commander of Navy Region Europe, Africa, Central, Commander of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Commander of Navy Region Southeast, and Commander of Navy Region Midwest. Williamson graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. degree in computer science in 1985 and later earned an M.B.A. degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1990.
Brendan Reid McLane is a United States Navy vice admiral and surface warfare officer who has served as the commander of Naval Surface Forces and Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet since 21 December 2023. He most recently served as Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic from May 2021 to June 2023. He previously served as Special Assistant to the commander of the United States Fleet Forces Command, with terms as commander of Carrier Strike Group 10 from May to December 2020 and commander of Navy Recruiting Command from July 2018 to April 2020.
Alvin Holsey is a United States Navy admiral and naval aviator who has served as the commander of United States Southern Command since 7 November 2024. He previously served as military deputy commander of the United States Southern Command from 2023 to 2024. He previously served as commander of the Navy Personnel Command and Deputy Chief of Naval Personnel from 2021 to 2022. He has command assignments as commander of Carrier Strike Group 1 from 2018 to 2020, and commanding officer of the U.S. Navy’s first hybrid electric propulsion warship, the USS Makin Island (LHD-8) from 2013 to 2014, having started out as its executive officer in February of the former year.
Daniel William Dwyer is a United States Navy vice admiral who has served as the deputy chief of naval operations for operations, plans, strategy, and warfighting development of the United States Navy since 2 August 2024, and briefly as the deputy chief of naval operations for warfighting development in early 2024. He most recently served as the commander of United States Second Fleet and Joint Force Command Norfolk from 2021 to 2024. He served as director of plans and policy of the United States Cyber Command from 2020 to 2021, and as Vice Commander of the Naval Air Systems Command from 2015 to 2016. Born and raised in Alameda, California, Dwyer graduated from the California Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine transportation in 1988. He later earned a Master of Science degree in computer information science from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Arts degree in foreign affairs and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
Milton James Sands III is a United States Navy rear admiral and Navy SEAL who has served as commander of the United States Naval Special Warfare Command since July 26, 2024. He most recently served as the chief of staff of United States Special Operations Command from 2023 to 2024. He served as the commander of Special Operations Command Africa from 2021 to 2023. Prior to that he served as commander of the Naval Service Training Command from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, he served as vice president of the Joint Special Operations University from 2018 to 2019, with prior tours as commodore of Naval Special Warfare Group 2 from 2016 to 2018 and commander of Seal Team 8.
Craig A. "Clap" Clapperton is a United States Navy vice admiral and naval flight officer who serves as the commander of U.S. Fleet Cyber Command and the United States Tenth Fleet since 4 August 2022. He most recently served as the commander of Combined Joint Task Force, Cyber from 30 June 2021 to 7 June 2022. He previously served as commander of Carrier Strike Group 12 from 7 May 2020 to 17 June 2021.
Carl Paul Chebi is a United States Navy vice admiral who serves as the commander of Naval Air Systems Command since September 9, 2021. He most recently served as the Deputy Program Executive Officer of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office from 30 September 2019 to 9 September 2021. Previously, he served as the Program Executive Officer for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) and Space Systems of the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command from 2017 to 2019.
