James Paterson-Robinson (born 29 September 1978) is an Australian equestrian. He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in equestrian jumping.
Paterson-Robinson was born on 29 September 1978 in Melbourne, Victoria. [1] He grew up in Geelong. [2] He attended high school at Geelong College before going to Marcus Oldham College for a course in Horse Business Management. [1] In 2000, he moved to Europe. Paterson-Robinson is an equestrian jumping competitor. [1] As of June 2012 [update] , he has been a member of Australia's national equestrian team for nine years. [1] He has been coached by Ger Poels since 2008. [1] His primary training base is located in Swolgen, Netherlands jumping. [1] He is a member of the Rijd Met Belied Riding Club in Meerlo, Netherlands. [1] Before that, he was a member of the Barwon Heads Pony Club. [2]
Paterson-Robinson finished 1st at the 2012 Bourg-en-Bresse CSI4 Grand Prix held in Bourg-en-Bresse, France. Big Star is a Dutch Warmblood stallion who competes in show jumping with the British rider Nick Skelton. After good performances in the following year, he was temporarily taken out of competition because of a leg injury. Skelton has described the bay stallion, son of Quick Star and grandson of Nimmerdor as "the best horse he has ever ridden". Apart from his show-jumping, Big Star is a successful breeding stallion, licensed in 21 studbooks for sport horses. Some of his foals have won notable victories.
Daniel Bluman is an Olympic show jumping rider. Born in Colombia, he represents Israel internationally and competed for his country of birth in the past. Bluman qualified to represent Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, but did not compete due to a clerical error in his horse's registration. Bluman represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Palace of Versailles in individual jumping and team jumping.
Nayel Nassar is an Egyptian American professional equestrian. He first began riding at age five and jumping at ten. Nassar qualified for the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) Show Jumping World Cup Finals in 2013, 2014, and 2017, and the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2014. He competed at the Longines FEI World Cup Finals in Paris and regularly competes on the international Grand Prix circuit.
Otello du Soleil was a bay-colored sport horse registered in the Selle Français studbook, who has been ridden mainly by Swiss show jumper Romain Duguet. He was a son of Alligator Fontaine and a daughter of Papillon Rouge.
