James Popple (born 1964) [1] is CEO of the Law Council of Australia. [2] He is also an Honorary Professor in the College of Law [3] and the College of Engineering and Computer Science [4] at the Australian National University, [5] and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. [6]
He was President of the ANU's Postgraduate and Research Students' Association (1990–91); [1] associate to High Court Justice Mary Gaudron (1995); [7] Deputy Registrar of the High Court of Australia (1996–98); [1] a senior executive in the Australian Attorney-General's Department (1998–2010); [8] the first Australian Freedom of Information Commissioner (2010–14); [8] a Senior Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (2015–17); [9] a Principal Reviewer at CPM Reviews Pty Ltd (2018); [10] a member of the Australian Anti-Dumping Review Panel (2018–21); [11] a member of the ACT Remuneration Tribunal (2018–22); [12] Official Secretary to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety (2018–21); [13] and Official Secretary to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide (2021–22). As part of his PhD research at the ANU (1993), [16] he developed a legal expert system called SHYSTER. [17] [18]

It was written as the doctoral dissertation of James Popple under the supervision of Robin Stanton,Roger Clarke,Peter Drahos,and Malcolm Newey. A full technical report of the expert system,and a book further detailing its development and testing have also been published.
Sally Wheeler,is Vice-Chancellor of Birkbeck,University of London and was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the Australian National University,where she was also served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the College of Law (2018-2022). She is also a Visiting Full Professor at the UCD Sutherland School of law and adjunct professor at Waikato University,New Zealand,and Jilin University,China. Wheeler was elected to the Academy of Social Sciences and the Royal Irish Academy in 2011 and 2013,respectively. She was previously a professor at Queen's University Belfast and was the Head of the School of Law at Queen's University Belfast for several years,she also served as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS),Dean of Internationalisation (AHSS) and,in 2017,Interim Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research Enterprise. Wheeler is the author or co-author of several books on corporate governance,over 70 articles or book chapters,and she has edited or co-edited nine other books. Wheeler has given major addresses and led workshops around the world,and has also been cited as "one of the world's leading experts" on the governance of pensions. In August 2023 her appointment as the incoming Vice-Chancellor of Birkbeck,University of London,was announced.

Donald Kris Anton has been a Professor of International Law since 1994. He took up the inaugural Chair of International Law at Griffith University in 2015. Since January 2017,Anton has also been the Director of the Griffith University Law Futures Centre. Prior to coming to Griffith University,Anton was a Professor of Law at The Australian National University,where he taught from 2000-2015.
