The Jamhuriat Hospital is a state-owned hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan. [2] [3] It is located in the affluent Shahr-e Naw neighborhood, between Shahr-e Naw Park, the former Presidential Palace, Abdul Rahman Mosque and Malalai High School. The hospital consists of a 4-story building and a 10-story building with the capacity of housing 350 patients. It was constructed in 2004 by engineers from China and laborers from Afghanistan. The Jamuriat Hospital has a special pediatric oncology department, which was recently established by the Bayat Foundation. [5] In October 2023, the Afghan Ministry of Public Health announced that the hospital will soon see a major renovation, and that some services of the hospital will temporarily be shifted to the nearby Jinnah Hospital. [6]

It is one of several advanced medical-treatment facilities in the area, and is administered by the Ministry of Public Health. The name of the hospital relates to Mirwais Hotak, who is known as Mirwais Neeka.

Shahr-e Naw, also spelled Share Naw, Shahre Naow or Shari Naw, is an affluent neighborhood in the northwestern section of Kabul, Afghanistan. It is a downtown commercial area housing most of the bigger buildings such as office centers, shopping centers, education centers, embassies, supermarkets, hotels, banks, hospitals, mosques, and apartments. To its west lies Karte Sakhi, and to its east is the affluent Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood. The Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan National Military Hospital, often referred to as the Daoud Khan Hospital or the National Military Hospital, is a military hospital located in Kabul, Afghanistan. With 400 beds, it is one of the largest military medical facilities in Afghanistan, and prior to 2021 provided medical services to members of the Afghan National Security Forces, and also contains a teaching department. Constructed in 1973 by engineers from the then-Soviet Union, it is now described as the "crown jewel" of the Afghan healthcare industry.

On 27 January 2018, an ambulance was used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device near Sidarat Square in Kabul, Afghanistan. At least 103 people were killed and 235 others wounded in the attack. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Afghanistan was part of the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have spread to Afghanistan when its index case, in Herat, was confirmed on 24 February 2020.

The Atatürk National Children Speciality Hospital is a 200-bed children's hospital located in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is one of the largest children's hospital in the city.
