Jamie Hamilton (born 1 March 2002) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a defender. [2]

Club career

Hamilton began his career with Hamilton Academical. In November 2019 he signed a new contract with Hamilton, until summer 2022. [3] In November 2021 he was hospitalised with chest pains. [4] [5] [6] In March 2022 he spoke about the club's form and play-off ambitions. [7] In April 2022 he was linked with a move away from the club. [8]

In August 2022 he signed a contract extension until 2023, [9] [10] and in September of the same year he expressed his hope to return to first-team action in a month, having been out injured since April with a thigh problem; [11] however, he was still unavailable in March 2023, missing the team's relegation struggles in the 2022–23 Scottish Championship and their progression to the 2023 Scottish Challenge Cup final. [12] He completed his first 90-minute, senior level match in two years in April 2024 as Hamilton defeated Alloa Athletic 1–0 in Scottish League One. [13]

Hamilton was released by Hamilton at the end of the 2023–24 season. [14]

International career

He has represented Scotland at under-16, under-17 and under-18 youth levels. [15] In August 2019 he represented Scotland in the under-19 squad. [16]

James Stewart Bulloch was a Scottish footballer who played for Hamilton Academical, Alloa Athletic and Dumbarton, mainly at left back. He captained Hamilton in the 1935 Scottish Cup Final which they lost 2–1 to Rangers, then won promotion from the second tier in 1938–39 with Alloa after being recruited by former Accies teammate Jimmy McStay who had taken over as manager. Bulloch served in the Lothians and Border Horse regiment during World War II, and moved to Germany to coach football after the war ended. Bulloch was in 1948 and 1949 coach in the Netherlands at AGOVV winning the Eerste klasse oost and was third in Dutch championship 1948/49.

The 2023–24 season is Hamilton Academical's first season back in the third tier of Scottish football, following their relegation from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2022–23 season. Hamilton will also compete in the League Cup, Challenge Cup and the Scottish Cup.
