Jan-Erik Larsen (born 27 May 1963) is a Norwegian editor and former politician for the Labour Party, and former State Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister.
He started his political career as chairman of the Møre og Romsdal county chapter of the Workers' Youth League in the early 1980s, and later served in the Møre og Romsdal county council from 1983 to 1987. During the first cabinet Stoltenberg 2000-2001 he was appointed State Secretary and responsible officer for press relations in the Office of the Prime Minister. When the government resigned after the election in 2001, Larsen was appointed special advisor to the Labour party group in the Norwegian Parliament, a position he left in 2003. In September 2008, he was re-appointed State Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister in the second cabinet Stoltenberg. [1]
Outside politics, Larsen worked as a journalist and editor for several regional newspapers. He was editor of Tidens Krav 1990-1993 and editor-in-chief of Telemarksavisa 1993–1998. He returned to Tidens Krav 2005-2008 as editor-in-chief. He has also held positions in the company A-pressen.

Asbjørn Reidar Jordahl is a Norwegian journalist and a politician for the Labour Party. Jordahl worked for the newspaper Tidens Krav in Kristiansund from 1959 to 1967. He represented Møre og Romsdal in the Norwegian Parliament 1977–81, and served as Minister of Transport and Communications 1978–1979. In 1981 he became editor-in-chief of Tidens Krav.
Alfred Martin Madsen was a Norwegian engineer, newspaper editor, trade unionist and politician for the Norwegian Labour Party. He began as deputy chairman of their youth wing, while also working as an engineer. In the 1910s he rose in the hierarchy of the party press, and eventually in the Labour Party and the Confederation of Trade Unions as well. He was an important party and trade union strategist in the 1920s. He served six terms in the Norwegian Parliament, and was the parliamentary leader of his party for many years. He was twice a member of the national cabinet, as Minister of Social Affairs in 1928 and Minister of Trade from 1935 to 1939.

Pedersen was Chief of Staff at the Office of the Prime Minister and a member of the Cabinet from 2006 to 2013. From 2015 to 2020 he was the CEO at Norwegian Oil and Gas.
Stoltenberg's Second Cabinet was the Government of Norway from 17 October 2005 to 16 October 2013. It was a coalition between the Labour Party, the Socialist Left Party and the Centre Party, known as the Red–Green Coalition. On 9 September 2013, the coalition was defeated in the 2013 election.

In Norway, a state secretary is a partisan political position within the executive branch of government. Contrary to the position secretary of state in many other countries, a Norwegian state secretary does not head his or her ministry, rather, they are second in rank to a minister. Resembling a de facto vice minister, the state secretary, however, cannot attend a Council of State, and does not act as a temporary minister in case of illness or other leave of absence.
