Jan Brueghelthe Younger was a Flemish Baroque painter. He was the son of Jan Brueghel the Elder, and grandson of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, both prominent painters who contributed respectively to the development of Renaissance and Baroque painting in the Southern Netherlands. Taking over his father's workshop at an early age, he painted the same subjects as his father in a style which was similar to that of his father. He regularly collaborated with leading Flemish painters of his time.
Flemish Baroque painting refers to the art produced in the Southern Netherlands during Spanish control in the 16th and 17th centuries. The period roughly begins when the Dutch Republic was split from the Habsburg Spain regions to the south with the Spanish recapturing of Antwerp in 1585 and goes until about 1700, when Spanish Habsburg authority ended with the death of King Charles II. Antwerp, home to the prominent artists Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, and Jacob Jordaens, was the artistic nexus, while other notable cities include Brussels and Ghent.
Jan Peeters the Elder or Johannes Peeters was a Flemish Baroque painter and draughtsman. He is known for his seascapes often depicting stormy seas and shipwrecks as well as for his topographical drawings.
Gerardus Josephus Xavery, was a Dutch painter. He was the brother of Jan Baptist Xavery, the sculptor, and uncle to the brothers Frans – later his pupil – and Jakob. He was a native of Antwerp, but settled in Holland and practised at The Hague, becoming a member of the Pictura Society in 1741.
Hendrik-Jozef Antonissen was a Flemish painter of landscapes and cattle.
Jan Baptist Jaspers, also John Baptist Gaspars, a native of Antwerp, was a scholar of Thomas Willeborts. He visited England during the civil war, and was much employed by General Lambert. After the Restoration he became an assistant to Sir Peter Lely, and afterwards to Sir Godfrey Kneller. He drew well, and excelled in making designs for tapestry. The portrait of Charles II in the hall of the Painter-Stainers' Company, and that of the same king in the hall of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, were painted by him. He died in London in 1691.
Jan van Belcamp (1610–1653) was a Flemish painter and copyist, active in England.
Frederik Bouttats, an engraver, was born at Antwerp about the year 1620. He engraved several plates after his own designs, principally portraits, and some after other masters. They are worked with the graver, in a neat style, and are not without merit. We have by him, among others, the following:
Mattheus Ignatius van Bree was a Belgian painter. He was one of the founders of the historical school of painting in Belgium and played an important role as a teacher in the development of 19th-century Belgian art.

Antwerp is a city in Belgium and the capital of Antwerp province in the Flemish Region. With a population of 520,504, it is the most populous city proper in Belgium, and with a metropolitan population of around 1,200,000 people, it is the second-largest metropolitan region after Brussels.
Jan van Rijn or Jean de Reyn was born at Dunkirk about the year 1610, and went when he was young to Antwerp, where he became a student of van Dyck. Such was his progress under that master, that he was invited to accompany him to England, where he continued to assist him until the death of his illustrious instructor. He afterwards established himself in his native town, where he painted several admirable pictures for the churches, and was much employed as a portrait painter. His principal works for the churches at Dunkirk were the 'Death of the four Royal Martyrs,' for the church of St. Eloi; and the 'Baptism of Totila,' for the church of the English convent.
Johann Baptist Ruel, or de Ruel or de Rull, was born at Antwerp in 1634. He was introduced as a singer to the court of the Elector of Mayence, and was there instructed in painting by Jan Thomas. He afterwards settled at Würzburg, where he executed altar-pieces and portraits. A portrait by him is in the Munich Gallery. He died in 1685, or, according to others, in 1715.
Jan, or Jean Edelinck, was a Flemish engraver who worked in Paris.
Cornelis Galle the Elder, a younger son of Philip Galle, was born at Antwerp in 1576, and was taught engraving by his father. He followed the example of his brother Theodoor in visiting Rome, where he resided for several years and acquired a correctness of design and a freedom of execution in which he greatly surpassed both his father and his brother. After engraving several plates at Rome, he returned to Antwerp, where he carried on the business of a printseller and engraved many plates after the works of his countrymen and his own designs. He became a master of the Antwerp Guild of St Luke in 1610. One of his pupils was Giovanni Florimi of Siena.
Jan Galle (1600–1676) was a Flemish engraver, a son and pupil of Theodoor Galle, was born at Antwerp, and died there in 1676.
Pieter Jan Snyers or Petrus Johannes Snijers, first name also 'Peeter Johannes' was a Flemish painter. He is known for his still life paintings with game.
Jan Baptist Martin Wans or Jan Baptist Wans was a Flemish Baroque painter known for his landscapes and religious scenes.
