Jan Erik Wilhelm "Janne" Eriksson (born 27 April 1962) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played in Allsvenskan for AIK, had a brief spell with Standard Liège in Belgium, and played collegiately in the United States. He also represented the Sweden U19 and U21 teams.

Club career

Early career and AIK

Eriksson started off his footballing career with Älvsjö AIK before signing with AIK as a youth player in 1977. [1] He made his Allsvenskan debut for AIK on 4 May 1981 in a home game at Råsunda Stadium against Kalmar FF, playing for 90 minutes at right back in a 3–1 win. [1] He made another 23 appearances for AIK during the 1981 season as AIK finished 8th. [1] Eriksson missed the first half of the 1982 season with an ankle injury but played in 11 games during the second half of the season as the team finished 11th in the table. [1]

Standard Liege, return to AIK, and college soccer

In January 1983, Eriksson signed with Standard Liège after impressing during a two-week trial with the club. [1] However, he only stayed with the club for two months before returning to AIK ahead of the 1983 Allsvenskan season. [1]

Eriksson's return to AIK was unsuccessful, as he failed to appear in any games and instead decided to leave Sweden in 1984 to play college soccer in the United States for Davis & Elkins College. [1] After a successful 1984 NCAA Division II season, Eriksson was named a 1984 NCAA Division II All-American as he helped his team win the 1984 West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Return to Sweden and retirement

After spending two years in the United States, Eriksson returned to Sweden in 1986 and represented Spårvägens GoIF and Vasalunds IF before retiring from competitive football following an Achilles' heel injury in 1992. [1]

International career

Eriksson represented the Sweden U19 a total of nine times. [5] [1] He also played six games for the Sweden U21 team. [5] [1]

The West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) was a collegiate athletic conference which historically operated exclusively in the state of West Virginia, but briefly had one Kentucky member in its early years, and expanded into Pennsylvania in its final years. Djurgårdens IF Ishockeyförening – commonly known as Djurgårdens IF, Djurgården Hockey, Djurgården – is a professional ice hockey team based in Stockholm, Sweden, affiliated with the Djurgårdens IF umbrella organization. IK Brage Swedish football club

Idrottsklubben Brage, also known as IK Brage or simply Brage, is a Swedish football club located in Borlänge. The club is affiliated with Dalarnas Fotbollförbund and play their home games at Domnarvsvallen. The club colours, reflected in their crest and kit, are green and white. The club can be seen as a continuation of IK Blixt which was founded in the early 1920s but merged into Domnarvets GoIF in 1923. Two years later the merger was split and IK Blixt changed their name to IK Brage, after the Norse god Bragi. The club has played a total of 18 seasons in Allsvenskan, which is the highest level of the Swedish football league system. They currently play in the second highest level (Superettan) where the season lasts from April to November. Ohio Valley University

Ohio Valley University was a private Christian college located between Parkersburg and Vienna in West Virginia. Founded in 1958, the school integrated education with teachings of the Christian faith. The college was physically located on two separate campuses totalling 267 acres (1.1 km2). OVU offered bachelor's degrees in more than 30 different subject areas. The college was currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, but has closed as January 2022. The college was placed under academic probation in 2020 by the Higher Learning Commission due to financial struggles. In December 2021, the OVU Board of Directors voted to close the college after the Fall 2021 semester. The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission voted to revoke OVU's authority to grant degrees shortly after. Seniors will be allowed to finish their degrees without the loss of any credit hours in the spring semester of 2022 at several other institutions of higher education related to Churches of Christ through "teach out" agreements.

Great Midwest Athletic Conference

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) was named the 24th NCAA Division II conference and operates in the Great Lakes and East South Central States regions of the United States. The G-MAC began conference play in the 2012-13 academic year hosting 12 championships and continued to work through the educational assessment program. The conference received approval and became an active Division II conference in 2013-14, hosting 17 championships.

Bernt Åke Ljung is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He represented IK Brage, AIK, and Vasalunds IF during a career that spanned between 1976 and 1993. A full international between 1982 and 1984, he won seven caps for the Sweden national team.
