Jan Lexell (born March 13, 1958) is a Swedish physician and academic, who is a specialist in rehabilitation medicine and neurology. He is head of the rehabilitation medicine research group in the Department of Health Sciences at Lund University, Lund. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] One of his research areas is the effect of physical activity on the aging process. [3] [6] Lexell is also senior consultant in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine at Skane University Hospital, Lund. [2] [7] [8] [9] Lexell's research is frequently cited; [10] [11] in particular, his work during the 1980s on examining the vastus lateralis muscle immediately post-mortem, which helped identify an atrophy in type-2 fiber area in older people, [12] Some of his most important research was carried out in 1989–90, while working at the University of Liverpool, UK, with grants from several major Swedish medical organisations. Sports medicine

Lexell is actively engaged in sports medicine, in particular paralympic sports medicine. [4] [15] [16] [17] [18] Lexell is a standing member of the Medical committee in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), [5] [15] [19] and was directly involved in preparing Sweden's paralympic athletes for the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio. [20] He was a contributor to the Textbook of Sports Medicine: Basic Science and Clinical Aspects of Sports Injury and Physical Activity, published by Wiley in 2003, revised 2008. [21]

Lisbeth Helena Larsson (1949–2021) was a Swedish literary historian and researcher who from 2000 was professor of literary studies at the University of Gothenburg where she focused on gender studies. Drawing on the archive of women's history at the Arts Faculty Library, she published a book on women from Gothenburg, Hundrade och en Göteborgskvinnor. It paved the way for a grant from the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation which in March 2018 led to the establishment of Svenskt kvinnobiografiskt lexikon, a searchable biographical dictionary of Swedish women. Larsson is also remembered as a theatre and literature critic for the newspaper Expressen.
