Multnomah County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census,the county's population was 815,428. Multnomah County is part of the Portland–Vancouver–Hillsboro,OR–WA metropolitan statistical area. Though smallest in area,Multnomah County is the state's most populous county. Its county seat,Portland,is the state's largest city.
Theodore Ralph Kulongoski is an American politician,judge,and lawyer who served as the 36th Governor of Oregon from 2003 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly and also served as the state Insurance Commissioner. He was the Attorney General of Oregon from 1993 to 1997 and a justice of the Oregon Supreme Court from 1997 to 2001. Kulongoski has served in all three branches of the Oregon state government.
Multnomah Falls is a waterfall located on Multnomah Creek in the Columbia River Gorge,east of Troutdale,between Corbett and Dodson,Oregon,United States. The waterfall is accessible from the Historic Columbia River Highway and Interstate 84. Spanning two tiers on basalt cliffs,it is the tallest waterfall in the state of Oregon at 620 ft (189 m) in height. The Multnomah Creek Bridge,built in 1914,crosses below the falls,and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Bill Sizemore is an American political activist and writer in Redmond,Oregon,United States. Sizemore has never held elected office,but has nonetheless been a major political figure in Oregon since the 1990s. He is considered one of the main proponents of the Oregon tax revolt,a movement that seeks to reduce taxes in the state. Oregon Taxpayers United,a political action committee he founded in 1993,has advanced numerous ballot initiatives limiting taxation,and has opposed spending initiatives. Sizemore made an unsuccessful run for Governor of Oregon in 1998. He also announced his intention to run for governor in 2010,but was indicted by the state on charges of tax evasion. The charges were later amended to failure to file tax returns.
Same-sex marriage has been legally recognized in Oregon since May 19,2014,when Judge Michael J. McShane of the U.S. District Court for the District Court of Oregon ruled in Geiger v. Kitzhaber that Oregon's 2004 state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages discriminated on the basis of sexual orientation in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution. A campaign that was then under way to win voter approval of a constitutional amendment legalizing same-sex marriage was suspended following the decision. In July 2015,Governor Kate Brown signed legislation codifying same-sex marriage in various Oregon statutes. The law change went into effect on January 1,2016.

It is the largest library system in Oregon,serving a population of 724,680,with more than 425,000 registered borrowers. According to the Public Library Association,it ranks second among U.S. libraries,based on circulation of books and materials,and ranks first among libraries serving fewer than one million residents. In this respect,it is the busiest in the nation.

On Tuesday,May 17,2016,an election was held in Portland,Oregon,to elect the mayor. Ted Wheeler was elected after garnering 54% of the primary vote. Incumbent mayor Charlie Hales did not seek a second term.
Adrienne Camille Nelson is an American lawyer who is a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. She previously served as a judge on the Multnomah County Circuit Court from 2006 to 2018 and a justice of the Oregon Supreme Court from 2018 to 2023.
