Janai Norman is an American television journalist working at ABC News as a co-anchor of Good Morning America Weekend Edition and is a correspondent for the network. [1]
Born in Durban, South Africa, her family relocated to the United States of America when she was young. She identifies as African American and holds American nationality. Norman studied at the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated with a degree in psychology and media.[ citation needed ]
She began her career as an intern at ABC News in 2011 in New York. It was there that her broadcasting journalism career skyrocketed.
After briefly working at KOKI, a Fox23 station in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she moved to WFTV in Orlando, Florida by 2014 where her unwavering talents and skills eventually landed her to rejoin ABC News in 2016 as a correspondent and a POP news anchor on Good Morning America Weekend Edition and covered the Trump administration, Capitol Hill, and other types of breaking news while she rose through the ranks within the network holding different positions. Her career soared at ABC News and eventually got her big break when she was promoted to co-anchor Good Morning America Weekend Edition succeeding Dan Harris (who left the program in 2021 to pursue other interests) in 2022 and received many congratulations videos from her current and former ABC colleagues and most importantly from her own family as well. Janai married her husband Eli Norman in 2018 after they got engaged in 2017. The married couple has 3 children together. [4]
