Janet Ong'era [2] is the immediate former Kisii County Woman Member of the National Assembly [3] (2017-2022) in the Republic of Kenya. She is the Chairperson of the Eastern Africa Region [4] at the Pan African Parliament. [1]
She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the Managing Partner in the law firm Ongera and Company.
From the year 2013 - 2017 Janet Ong'era was nominated by her Party The Orange Democratic Movement to serve as a Senator in the 11th Parliament. At the senate she was the Minority Deputy Whip and a member of The Kenyan Delegation to the Pan African Parliament
Janet Ong'era served as the Executive Director of the Orange Democratic Movement and during her tenure she successfully conducted party primaries of which her Political Party Orange Democratic Movement [5] won 95 Parliamentary and 3380 civics seats in 2007 General Elections and won 118 Parliamentary seats and 367 members of the County Assembly in 2013 General Elections. Janet Onge'ra was also the director of the two Kenyan Constitution referendums conducted in 2005 [6] and 2010, [7] and both polls were won by her team.
Janet Ong'era is the Founder and Patron of Kisii County Women Agribusiness Empowerment (KCWAES), [8] a savings and credit cooperative society that empowers women to grow and transform their economic status. She has a number of initiatives that are aimed at empowering the Kisii County [9] Society.

Hon. Janet Ong’era was born on 5 July 1965 to the late Mama Peripetua Nyang’ate Ong’era and the late Mzee William Ong’era. Her mother was a vegetable vendor in Kisii Municipal Market and her father a Prisons officer. Janet grew up in poverty but learnt at a tender age that humility and daring to dream beyond your environmental horizon could make one scale the heights.
Hon. Ong’era attended Nubia Primary School in Kisii County and Bernard Estate Primary School, where she excelled and joined Precious Blood Riruta Secondary School [18] for O level and Moi Girls High School, Eldoret for her A-levels. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi [19] and a Diploma in Laws from the Kenya School of Law. [20]
Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) is a women's NGO that deals with issues to do with women's rights and gender equity in Kenya. It was founded in 1952 by a group of European women and was then under the umbrella of the Department of Community Development and Rehabilitation. It has approximately 600,000 groups contributing to a total membership of about two million women. Phoebe Aisyo served as the first African chairperson of the organization. It is currently chaired by Rahab Mwikali Muiu and has various agendas in its mission statement, including maternal, child health and family planning and training women in leadership and development.

Jonathan Kiprono Langat Magerer is a Kenyan politician. He is a former member Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Kipkelion Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election. While in Parliament, he served as Deputy Chief Whip for ODM. He is remembered as one person who continues to serve Kenyans with dedication. On July 1, Langat was nominated as Executive Director of the Orange Democratic Movement, succeeding Janet Ongera. He was forceful ejected from ODMs National Executive Council meeting in October 2014 Hon. Magerer Langat Has continued to Serve the people of kiokelion constituency and Kericho County at large with diligence and dedication. He is seen from season to season participating in various public development initiatives, including fundraisers to build schools and for community development. As a seasoned politician, he has continued to champion for the efforts to revive development projects in the county, and enhance capacity building for his people. Reliable sources says that He will be contesting for the Kericho County Gubernatorial seat in 2022, seeking to succeed Prof. Paul chepkwony.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is a public university that is situated in Juja, 36 kilometres northeast of Nairobi, along the Nairobi-Thika SuperHighway, off Exit 15. It offers courses in Technology, Engineering, Science, Commerce, Management and Building sciences and holds a strong research interest in the areas of biotechnology and engineering. Notable alumni include Dr. Paul Chepkwony, the first governor of Kericho County in Kenya and a former lecturer, Emma Miloyo, a prominent Kenyan architect and the first female president of the Architectural Association of Kenya, as well as Aden Duale, the former Leader of Majority in the 11th Kenyan Parliament among others. As at 2023, the Vice Chancellor of the University was Prof. Victoria Ngumi.

Peninnah Gathoni Muchomba popularly known as Gathoni Wa Mucomba is a Kenyan journalist, entrepreneur and politician. She is the Member of Parliament for Githunguri Constituency in the bicameral Kenyan parliament since 2022 and a member of the ruling party, UDA. She formerly vied and won the Kiambu women representative post in the 2017 General election. Gathoni garnered 922,829 votes from Kiambu county constituents.
