Jari Risku (born 11 February 1966) is a Finnish ice hockey coach, currently serving as head coach of HPK Kiekkonaiset in the Naisten Liiga. He had a brief career as a professional ice hockey defenceman with Jokerit during 1984 to 1987, appearing in a total of 41 SM-liiga games across three seasons. [1]

Coaching career

Risku most recently served as head coach of the Austrian national team for the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I Group A and was previously head coach of KMH Budapest in the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL) during the 2018–19 season. He was the first head coach of Team Kuortane from the team's creation in 2010 until 2018 – winning the Hannu Saintula Award in the 2017–18 season – and coached the Finnish national under-18 team during 2014 to 2018. An Olympic medalist as assistant coach of the Finnish national team that played in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics, he also led the Finnish team to a silver medal as head coach for the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2011 Winter Universiade. Maija Johanna Hassinen-Sullanmaa née Hassinen is a Finnish retired ice hockey goaltender and the current goaltending coach and team manager of HPK Kiekkonaiset in the Naisten Liiga. As a member of the Finnish national team, she participated in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and in the IIHF Women's World Championships in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011, winning bronze medals at the tournaments in 2008, 2009, and 2011.

Satu Kiipeli is a Finnish ice hockey defenceman and coach, currently serving as assistant coach to Oulun Kärpät Akatemia in the Naisten Mestis. During her career with the Finnish national team, she represented Finland in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and at the IIHF Women's World Championships in 2001 and 2005.

Team Kuortane is an ice hockey team in the Naisten Liiga, the premier women's hockey league in Finland. They are based at the Kuortaneen urheilulukio in Kuortane, a small town in South Ostrobothnia, and play at the Kuortaneen jäähalli. The team was founded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2010 as part of its initiative to develop the ice hockey skills of young women in Finland. Since its creation, approximately half of all national under-18 team rosters have been filled by players from Team Kuortane. For sponsorship reasons, the team was called Team Oriflame Kuortane during 2010 to 2014.

HPK were the first team to be awarded the Aurora Borealis Cup as the winners of the Finnish Championship in 2011.

Vaasan Sport Naiset were a women's ice hockey team in Finland. They played in Vaasa, on the west coast of Finland, at the Vaasan Sähkö Areena. The team was dissolved following relegation.

The 2020–21 Naisten Liiga season was the thirty-eighth season of the Naisten Liiga, Finland's elite women's ice hockey league, since the league’s creation in 1982. The season began, as scheduled, on 5 September 2020, making the Naisten Liiga the first women's national ice hockey league in Europe and, quite likely, in the world to return to play for the 2020–21 season.

The Karoliina Rantamäki Award is an ice hockey trophy awarded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association to the playoff MVP of the Naisten Liiga. During 1982 to 2017, the league was called the Naisten SM-sarja. The Naisten SM-sarja Playoff MVP trophy was first awarded in the 1999–2000 season and the first recipient was forward Kati Kovalainen of the Espoo Blues Naiset.

The Sari Fisk Award is an ice hockey trophy awarded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association to the player with the best plus–minus at the end of the regular season of the Naisten Liiga.

The 2021–22 Naisten Liiga season was the thirty-ninth season of the Naisten Liiga, the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the Naisten SM-sarja in 1982. The season began on 11 September 2021 and concluded on 20 March 2022.

The 2022–23 Naisten Liiga season is the fortieth season of the Naisten Liiga, the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the Naisten SM-sarja in 1982. The season began on 10 September 2022 and will conclude on 18 March 2023.
