The Championship runs from October to December each year but has on occasion continued into the New Year due to replays and postponements. The current (2021) holders of the cup are Castleisland Desmonds who defeated Ballyduff, winning the competition for the second consecutive year.

St Senan's are a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club from just outside Listowel in north County Kerry, Ireland. They play North Kerry Division 1, County League Division 3 and Premier Junior Championship Football. They won the Kerry Junior Football Championship in 1985 and 1996. St Senan's won the North Kerry Senior Football Championship for the first time in 2018 and retained the title in 2019.

Éamonn Fitzmaurice is an Irish former Gaelic football manager and player. He played at senior level for the Kerry county team and later managed it between 2012 and 2018, during which time he became a member of an exclusive club of people to have won All-Ireland SFC titles as a player and as a manager.

Ciarán Sheehan is an Irish sportsman. Sheehan played Gaelic football and hurling with his local club Éire Óg, his divisional side Muskerry, and was a member of the Cork senior football team from 2010 until 2013. He signed a two-year contract to play Australian rules football with the Carlton Football Club in 2013, later returning to Ireland.

John Bunyan was a dual player from County Kerry. He played both football and hurling with Kerry during the 1970s. Originally from Ballydonoghue Johnny joined up with neighbouring Ballyduff who are more well known for hurling rather than football. Bunyan would go on to be a great player at both codes. In football, he won a Munster Under-21 Football Championship in 1968 and an All Ireland Senior medal in 1975. He played at full forward in the Munster Final having a notable battle with Humphrey Kelliher of Cork and also in the All Ireland semi-final against Sligo. He was omitted from the team for the final against Dublin. On the same day in 1975 his brother Robert captained the Kerry Minors to All Ireland victory over Tyrone. In hurling he also had success winning an All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship medal in 1972 and an All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship in 1976.

Ballydonoghue GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Kerry in Ireland. Its playing field is at Coolard townland outside Lisselton. The club, which mainly fields Gaelic football teams, was founded in the 1930s. It participates in Kerry GAA competitions and is part of the Shannon Rangers board. Three players with the club were members of the Kerry inter-county team that contested the 1947 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final at the Polo Grounds in New York.

The Kerry Premier Junior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking junior clubs in the county of Kerry in Ireland. It is the third tier overall in the entire Kerry Gaelic football championship system.
