Jason Franklin

Jason Franklin is a philanthropist, activist and researcher involved in urban policy reform and private philanthropy. He serves as the executive director of Bolder Giving in New York City.

While attending Lincoln High School, he founded Oregon Students Supporting Education, [1] an advocacy organization mobilizing public school students against proposed budget cuts after the passage of Oregon Ballot Measure 47 in 1995. He also founded the Multnomah County Youth Advisory Board, now called the Multnomah Youth Commission. He went to college at the George Washington University in Washington, DC where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Communication. While in DC, he worked in the Office of National AIDS Policy in the Executive Office of President Bill Clinton’s second administration and then worked as part of the staff of the 21st Century School Fund.

After moving to New York where he completed a MS in Nonprofit Management at the Milano Graduate School at The New School, Jason co-founded IAM LLC, a small real estate development firm focused on urban brownfield remediation and redevelopment. It was selected as the Best Blended Value Business in the 2004 Global Social Venture Competition [2] sponsored by Goldman Sachs. In 2004, he joined the staff of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council where he helped launch a $5 million grant program supporting the arts in downtown New York with the support of the September 11th Fund. He then moved to the Research Center for Leadership in Action (RCLA) at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University to run the Next Generation Leadership Alumni Network, a network of 118 public sector leaders supported by the Rockefeller Foundation. In 2007, he returned to the staff of the 21st Century School Fund, as deputy director, serving until 2010, while continuing as an adjunct faculty member at the Wagner School. He is also working on a Doctorate in Public Administration at the Wagner School. Jason serves on the board of directors of the North Star Fund, Proteus Fund, and Resource Generation.

Outside In is a medical and youth service nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon which provides primary care and "wraparound services" for low income and homeless clients. So that they can improve their health and move towards self-sufficiency. It also has several other programs such as needle exchange program for drug addicts, and eligibility restricted tattoo removal service. The needle exchange has been the cause of community objection as well as cancellation of insurance policy and donors declining to give. It has reported that in fiscal year 2015-2016, it has given out 988,399 needles which was 20,962 more needles than what was returned. Founded in 1968 to serve youth, the organization has since continued to revise its services to meet the needs of its clients. Its services as described in October 2014 include medical care, mobile medical vans, tattoo removal, housing, education, counseling, and job training.

Regional Arts & Culture Council

The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) is an agency that oversees arts activity throughout the Portland metropolitan area in Oregon, United States. It was established as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1995, replacing a bureau that had been shared by the City of Portland and Multnomah County – the Metropolitan Arts Commission. Today, RACC serves the tri-county region of Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties.

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue is a non-profit volunteer search and rescue resource for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The agency also offers its 3,000-5,000 hours of volunteer service to other areas, including Clackamas, Columbia, Washington, Marion, Hood River, Wasco, Tillamook, and Clatsop counties in Oregon, and Skamania and Clark counties in Washington. The organization was first created in 1961 in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America, and is one of the longest continually used Explorer Search and Rescue units in the United States. In 1986, sponsorship of the MCSO SAR was transferred to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. MCSO SAR is part of the Mount Hood Search and Rescue Council. MCSO receives funding from the Department of Homeland Security within the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) to create a regional resource.

Jason Furman American economist, advisor to US President Obama

Jason Furman is an American economist and professor at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. On June 10, 2013, Furman was named by President Barack Obama as chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA). Furman has also served as the Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, which followed his role as an advisor to candidate Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. Furman's research and policy focus includes the subjects of taxes, health care, macroeconomic policy, competition and inequality, technology policy, and the U.S. Social Security program.

Jeff Cogen American politician
