Biography

Black grew up in Livermore, California. [1] He participated in the final round of the 73rd Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2000. [2] Black started learning how to play the piano at age 8, and started playing it backwards at age 14. He went to college at Brigham Young University, where he played concerts and studied accounting. [3] After graduating in 2012, he became a Certified Public Accountant, but then decided to focus his career on becoming a touring musician. [4]

Discography

In 2016, Black signed to Stone Angel Music, releasing album Piano Preludes in May, from producer Paul Cardall. [5] The album featured the violinist Jenny Oaks Baker as a guest soloist. [6] Piano Preludes debuted at #2 on the Billboard New Age chart, [7] spending three weeks in the #2 spot. [8] Music critic Kathy Parsons called the album "masterful", [5] and Deseret News reporter Sydney Cobb called it "peaceful." [7]

Black is also known for his viral videos based on songs from the movies Frozen and Up . [9] and for his performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show . [10] Black has previously won the Utah Music Awards. [11]

Alicia Augello Cook, known professionally as Alicia Keys, is an American singer, songwriter and actress. A classically trained pianist, Keys began composing songs by age 12 and was signed at 15 years old by Columbia Records. Jon Schmidt is an American pianist, composer, piano teacher, and author. Classically trained, he branched into New Age music in his 20s and has developed a classical crossover style that blends classical, contemporary, and rock and roll. He has released eight solo albums and seven piano books containing original scores. Since 2010 he has been a member of The Piano Guys musical group, performing on their YouTube videos, albums, and in concert.

Floyd Cramer American pianist (1933–1997)

Floyd Cramer was an American pianist who was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His signature playing style was a cornerstone of the pop-oriented "Nashville sound" of the 1950s and 1960s. Cramer's "slip-note" or "bent-note" style, in which a passing note slides almost instantly into or away from a chordal note, influenced a generation of pianists. His sound became popular to the degree that he stepped out of his role as a sideman and began touring as a solo act. In 1960, his piano instrumental solo, "Last Date" went to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 pop music chart and sold over one million copies. Its follow-up, "On the Rebound", topped the UK Singles Chart in 1961. As a studio musician, he became one of a cadre of elite players dubbed the Nashville A-Team and he performed on scores of hit records.

Cardall has had several recordings debut No. 1 on top Billboard charts. He was born with essentially half a functioning heart, which required immediate surgery when Cardall was less than a day old. In addition to his recording career, Cardall founded Stone Angel Music in 1999, which produced a catalogue of recordings by other similar artists. The catalogue was acquired by Anthem Entertainment Group in 2018.

Randy Waldman is an American pianist, arranger, composer, and conductor. In 2019, Waldman's arrangement of the "Spiderman Theme" on his Superheroes album garnered the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals at the 61st Grammy Awards. Waldman also co-arranged Barbra Streisand's "Somewhere", which was awarded with an arrangement Grammy in 1985. Steven Sharp Nelson is an American cellist and songwriter. He is best known as "The Cello Guy" of the classical new-age musical group The Piano Guys, with whom he has released eight number-one albums and dozens of music videos. He also has three solo albums to his credit. He is considered a pioneer in "cello-percussion", which enhances traditional cello playing with pizzicato and percussive techniques.

The Piano Guys Band

The Piano Guys is an American musical group consisting of pianist Jon Schmidt, cellist Steven Sharp Nelson, videographer Paul Anderson, and music producer Al van der Beek. Originating in Utah, they gained popularity through YouTube, where in 2011 they began posting piano and cello compositions combining classical, pop, film score and original music, showcased through elaborate or cinematic videos. As of March 2020 the group had surpassed 2 billion views on their YouTube channel and had 6.7 million subscribers. Michael Dulin is an American pianist and composer. In addition to performing his original music, Dulin has appeared both solo and with orchestra in performances of classical music. He has also toured as keyboardist with the Motown group, the Temptations.

The Prelude Implicit is the fifteenth studio album by American progressive rock band Kansas, released in September 2016. Lawson's fifth studio album The Chopin Variations (2014), a collaboration with violinist Judy Kang and cellist Rubin Kodheli, reached number one on the Billboard Top Classical Albums chart. He debuted as a major label musician through Decca Records in 2020, with the extended play Stay. Lawson is known as the composer of the podcasts Lore and Unobscured, both works created by Aaron Mahnke.

Sophia Agranovich Musical artist

Sophia Agranovich is a Soviet-born American classical concert pianist, Centaur Records recording artist and music educator. She is a Steinway Artist and a Juilliard School graduate, where she taught piano as a teaching fellow. Her live performances and discography have received international awards and critical acclaim. A six-time Grammy balloted artist, she has been described by Fanfare Magazine as "a bold, daring pianist in the tradition of the Golden Age Romantics" and praised by the American Record Guide for her "magnificent shading and superior musicianship."
