Jason Sosa (born March 10, 1988) is an American former professional boxer of Puerto Rican descent, who held the WBA (Regular) super featherweight title from 2016 to 2017. [1]

Professional boxing career

Sosa made his professional debut in November 2009 defeating Jonathan Ocasio by knockout in the three round in Philadelphia, USA. [1]

Sosa vs. Fortuna

He won the WBA (Regular) super featherweight title in June 2016 with an eleven-round win over Javier Fortuna in Beijing. [1] [2]

Sosa vs. Smith

He had his first WBA (Regular) title defense on November 12, 2016, Against Stephen Smith. Sosa won the fight convincingly, winning on all three scorecards, 117–110, 116-112 and 116–111. [3]

Sosa vs. Lomachenko

In his next bout, Sosa fought WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko. Lomachenko dominated Sosa over nine rounds and Sosa retired in his corner after the end of the ninth round. [4]

Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux was a professional boxing match between world champions Vasiliy Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux for the WBO junior lightweight championship. The bout was held on December 9, 2017 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Lomachenko and Rigondeaux are regarded as two of the best amateurs in history, with each boxer winning two Olympic gold medals. It was the first time dual gold medal winners fought professionally, and it was a fight the great Roy Jones Jr. stated, "To me, on paper, this is the best professional fight that has ever been made." Lomachenko won by TKO when Rigondeaux retired on his stool after round 6 after claiming to have injured his left hand.
