Java Moose is a series of coffee shops with four locations based in Saint John and Rothesay in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] Java Moose was established in 1995 by partners Glen McLean and Randy Pedersen, [7] [8] with their first location being opened in 1996 at the McAllister Place. [9] Additionally, they have a kiosk located at St. Thomas University. [10] The coffee shop chain also distributes coffee for 250 establishments. [11]

History

Java Moose was established in 1995. [12] In 2000, Java Moose was honored by the Saint John Board of Trade as being one of the best local businesses of the year. [13]

In January 2015, Java Moose partnered with Coccamp, a Brazilian coffee bean company. [14] [15]

Roasting coffee transforms the chemical and physical properties of green coffee beans into roasted coffee products. The roasting process is what produces the characteristic flavor of coffee by causing the green coffee beans to change in taste. Unroasted beans contain similar if not higher levels of acids, protein, sugars, and caffeine as those that have been roasted, but lack the taste of roasted coffee beans due to the Maillard and other chemical reactions that occur during roasting.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters is a coffee roaster and retailer based in Portland, Oregon, United States. The chain's flagship café and roastery opened in 1999. Coffee is a popular beverage and an important commodity. Tens of millions of small producers in developing countries make their living growing coffee. Over 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed in the world daily. Over 90 percent of coffee production takes place in developing countries — mainly South America — while consumption happens primarily in industrialized economies. There are 25 million small producers who rely on coffee for a living worldwide.
