Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan BSP, OSP, ndc,afwc, acsc, psc is a Bangladesh Air Force officer and currently appointed as the Bangladeshi Ambassador to Lebanon. [1] Prior to this, he was air officer commanding at BAF Matiur Rahman in Jessore.
Khan received his commission on 23 January 1990. He had his BSc in aeronautics from Rajshahi University. He did two Master's in Defence and Security Studies from DSCSC and Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and another Master's in Operational Science and Arts from Air University (ACSC), USA. Khan served as air officer commanding at BAF Paharkanchanpur in Tangail then AOC at BAF Matiur Rahman. [3] Earlier, he was the Commandant of Bangladesh Air Force Academy. [4] He has replaced Major General Md Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman as ambassador to Lebanon in August 2023. [5] President Shahabuddin asked him to strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lebanonas and explore trade and investment opportunities there. [6]
The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The air force is primarily responsible for air defence of Bangladesh's sovereign territory as well as providing air support to the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy. Ziaur Rahman, the sixth president of Bangladesh, was assassinated by a faction of officers of Bangladesh Army, on 30 May 1981, in the southeastern port city of Chittagong. Rahman went to Chittagong to arbitrate in a clash between the local leaders of his political party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. On the night of 30 May, a group of officers commandeered the Chittagong Circuit House, a government residence where Rahman was staying, shooting him and several others.

The appointment is held by a four-star air officer and the current COAS is Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan. Earlier, he was adjutant general of the Bangladesh Army. He was also the vice chairman of Trust Bank's board of directors. He served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division & Area Commander of Jessore Area. He also served as the director of Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He served as commander of 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. He also served as additional director general (operations) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
