Jawad Abu Hatab (born 1962) is a Syrian politician. Since May 2016 he has served as Minister of Defence [2] in the Syrian Interim Government. He also served as Prime Minister,resigning on 10 March 2019. [1] Prior to his election as Prime Minister,he worked as a heart surgeon and served in various roles within the Syrian opposition.
Hatab was born in 1962 in Damascus. He completed his higher education at the medical school of Damascus University in 1988. He subsequently worked as a heart surgeon at the Cardiac Surgery Hospital located within the hospital. Hatab travelled to Italy in 2003 and completed his studies to become a paediatric cardiologist. After the commencement of the Syrian civil war,Hatab served in various administrative roles within the Syrian opposition. In May 2016 he was elected as Prime Minister of the partially-recognised Syrian Interim Government. During his tenure,he sought to improve service delivery in opposition-controlled areas and relocate opposition government officials from Turkey to Syria. [4]
Yasin al-Hashimi,born Yasin Hilmi Salman,was an Iraqi politician who twice served as the prime minister. Like many of Iraq's early leaders,al-Hashimi served as a military officer during Ottoman control of the country. He made his political debut under the government of his predecessor,Jafar al-Askari,and replaced him as prime minister shortly after,in August 1924. Al-Hashimi served for ten months before he was replaced,in turn by Abd al-Muhsin as-Sa'dun. Over the next ten years he filled a variety of governmental positions finally returning to the office of prime minister in March 1935. On 30 October 1936,Hashimi became the first Iraqi prime minister to be deposed in a coup,which was led by General Bakr Sidqi and a coalition of ethnic minorities. Unlike al-Askari,who was then his minister of defense,al-Hashimi survived the coup and made his way to Beirut,Lebanon,where he died three months later. His older brother and close ally,Taha al-Hashimi,served as Prime Minister of Iraq in 1941.
Mahmoud Al-Zoubi was Prime Minister of Syria from 1 November 1987 to 7 March 2000.
Abdul Halim Khaddam was a Syrian politician who was Vice President of Syria and "High Commissioner" to Lebanon from 1984 to 2005. Nouri Kamil Muhammad-Hasan al-Maliki,also known as Jawad al-Maliki,is secretary-general of the Islamic Dawa Party and was the prime minister of Iraq from 2006 to 2014 and the vice president of Iraq from 2014 to 2015 and 2016 to 2018. Al-Maliki began his political career as a Shia dissident under Saddam Hussein's in the late 1970s and rose to prominence after he fled a death sentence into exile for 24 years. During his time abroad,he became a senior leader of the Islamic Dawa Party,coordinated the activities of anti-Saddam guerrillas and built relationships with Iranian and Syrian officials whose help he sought in overthrowing Saddam. Al-Maliki worked closely with United States and coalition forces in Iraq following their departure by the end of 2011.
Jarabulus is a Syrian city administratively belonging to Aleppo Governorate,under the de facto control of the Syrian Opposition. Jarabulus lies on the western bank of the river Euphrates. In the 2004 census,the city had a population of 11,570. The population has increased significantly during the Syrian civil war.

Wael Nader Al-Halqi is a Syrian politician who was Prime Minister of Syria from 2012 to 2016. Previously he was Minister of Health from 2011 to 2012. He was appointed as Prime Minister on 9 August 2012.
The National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (Arabic:الائتلافالوطنيلقوىالثورةوالمعارضةالسورية),commonly named the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) (Arabic:الائتلافالوطنيالسوري),or the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) is a coalition of opposition groups in the Syrian civil war that was founded in Doha,Qatar,in November 2012. Former imam of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus,Moaz al-Khatib,considered a moderate,was elected the president of the coalition,and resigned on 21 April 2013. Riad Seif and Suheir Atassi,both prominent democracy activists and the latter a secular human rights advocate,were elected vice presidents. The post of a third vice president will remain vacant for a Kurdish figure to be elected. Mustafa Sabbagh was elected as the coalition's secretary-general. The coalition has a council of 114 seats,though not all of them are filled.
Ahmad Moaz Al-Khatib Al-Hasani is a former president of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces. He is also a former imam of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.
Ghassan Hitto is a Syrian politician and the first head of an interim government established by the Syrian opposition National Coalition. Born in Damascus into a Kurdish family,he left Syria to the U.S. in 1980,became a naturalized American citizen and worked as an information technology executive and lived in Texas until recently. In late 2012,he relocated to Turkey. He was elected prime minister on 18 March 2013 by a narrow margin over former Syrian Arab Republic agricultural minister Assad Mustafa. Hitto resigned on 8 July 2013.
The Syrian Interim Government(SIG) is an alternative government in Syria,formed by the umbrella opposition group,the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces. The interim government indirectly controls some areas of the country and claims to be the sole legitimate government on behalf of the Syrian opposition in defiance of the Council of Ministers of the Syrian Arab Republic. The interim government's headquarters in Syria are located in the city of Azaz in Aleppo Governorate.
A number of states and armed groups have involved themselves in the ongoing Syrian Civil War as belligerents.
Alwiya al-Furqan is an independent Islamist rebel group involved in the Syrian Civil War. It claimed to be the largest Islamist rebel faction that operated in the eastern Quneitra Governorate and Damascus. The group also held ties to Jordan which allowed fighters from the group to cross into the country to receive medical aid. During a sermon the group's leader stated that the Syrian opposition was building a Caliphate in Syria,that the rebels should emulate the Prophet Muhammad and his companions in doing so.
The siege of Darayya and Muadamiyat was launched by the Syrian Armed Forces in late 2012 after rebels took over most of the Damascus suburbs of Darayya and Muadamiyat al-Sham in November 2012. Since then,the power grid in the area was cut off as the government attempted to storm the towns multiple times. During the siege the towns were continuously hit by airstrikes from the Syrian Air Force.
Anas al-Abdah or Anas Al-Adbah born 1967) is a Syrian politician who served as President of the Syrian Interim Government from 2019 to 2021.
The Syrian Salvation Government is a de facto alternative government of the Syrian opposition in Idlib Governorate,formed in early November 2017. There followed weeks of conflict between the Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) and the Syrian Interim Government (SIG),with reports of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) unilaterally disbanding several SIG-supported local councils across northwestern Syria. The SSG is led by a prime minister who is elected by a legislative body named the General Shura Council,which is headed by a president.
Seyf Polat,also known by the alias Sayf Abu Bakr,is a Syrian rebel leader who has fought for several armed opposition factions in the Syrian Civil War. Having served with the Free Syrian Army during the conflict's early stages,he reportedly joined the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in 2013,possibly as a spy for the Turkish intelligence. He defected from ISIL in 2014,and consequently became the commander of the CIA-supported Hazzm Movement and later the Hamza Division. In September 2021,he became the deputy leader of the Syrian Front for Liberation. As part of these groups,he has become an important ally of Turkey within the armed Syrian opposition. He also acts as the de facto military governor of al-Bab since 2017.
Rashad Barmada was a Syrian politician between the 1940s and early 1960s. Barmada served as a deputy prime minister,minister of defense for three terms,minister of interior for two terms,and minister of education for three terms,and was elected as a member of the Syrian Parliament for three terms. He was the President of the Aleppo Lawyers Syndicate in 1949.
