The Communist Party of Nepal is the second largest political party in Nepal. As per the results of recent elections,CPN (UML) stands as the second largest party of Nepal at all levels of government. He later merged the party with Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum and Khas Samabesi Party to form the Federal Socialist Forum.

General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives,the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The election was held alongside the first provincial elections for the seven provincial assemblies. A political deadlock between the governing Nepali Congress and the winning left-wing coalition over the system used to elect the upper house led to delay in forming the new government. Following the announcement of final result by the Election Commission,K.P. Oli of Communist Party of Nepal was sworn in as Prime Minister on 15 February 2018 by the President according to Article 76 (2) of the constitution. He passed a Motion of Confidence on 11 March 2018 with 208 votes.
The Samajbadi Party,Nepal,abbr. SPN was the third-largest political party in Nepal party after the Nepali Congress and the Nepal Communist Party. It was formed on 6 May 2019 by the merger of the Federal Socialist Forum,Nepal,led by Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav,and the Naya Shakti Party,Nepal,led by former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. The party was founded with the ideology of democratic socialism and ethnic federalism. It uses the flag and election symbol of the Federal Socialist Forum,Nepal.
Ganga Bahadur Tamang Dong is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Kavre-1 constituency,representing Communist Party of Nepal of the left alliance,under the first-past-the-post system. He defeated his nearest rival,Tirtha Bahadur Lama of Nepali Congress securing 43,631 votes against Lama's 39,605. Prior to that,he had only contested one local level election and lost.
Hem kumar Rai is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He is also a member of the parliamentary Finance Committee. He won his seat from the Solukhumbu-1 constituency as a candidate from Communist Party of Nepal of the left alliance,by defeating his nearest rival Bal Bahadur KC of Nepali Congress. He garnered 20,747 votes to KC's 17,294. After his party united with CPN UML to form Nepal Communist Party (NCP),he became the new party's "co-incharge" for Solukhumbu district.
Krishna Bahadur Rai is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Kathmandu-3 constituency,representing CPN UML of the left alliance,under the first-past-the-post electoral system. This is the first time he has been elected to parliament. He defeated his nearest rival Ambika Basnet of Nepali Congress by acquiring 19,169 votes to Basnet's 14,884.
Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was the commander of the first attack carried out by the Maoists,that began the Nepalese civil war.
Padam Giri is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Parbat District representing CPN UML under the first-past-the-post system in the 2017 legislative election. He defeated his nearest rival,Arjun Prasad Joshi of Nepali Congress,by acquiring 39,275 votes to Joshi's 26,819.
Pramila Rai is a Nepali politician and an incumbent member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. She was also elected to the first constituent assembly in 2008. Daughter of prominent Nepali Congress leader Bal Bahadur Rai,she joined politics as a student,as a member of the student wing of Nepali Congress. Both her elections to the constituent assembly in 2008 and to the House of Representatives in 2017 were under the proportional representation system. An influential party leader in Udayapur District,she contested the second constituent assembly election from Udayapur-2 constituency under the first-past-the-post system but was defeated.
The People's Socialist Party,Nepal,also known as Janata Samajbadi Party is the fifth largest political party in Nepal. Since the 2022 local election,the party has been limited to stand only as the third largest party of Madhesh Province after the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) respectively. Recently the party faced multiple splits under Mahantha Thakur,Baburam Bhattarai,Mahendra Ray Yadav and Resham Lal Chaudhary.
General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election;one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP,and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.

Prakash Jwala is a Nepali politician who served in the House of Representatives from 1999 until 2008 and in the Karnali Provincial Assembly from 2018 until his expulsion in April 2021,representing the Salyan 1 constituency as a member of the Communist Party of Nepal. After his expulsion,Jwala joined the newly-formed Communist Party of Nepal,and is running as one of its candidates for the House of Representatives in the 2022 Nepalese general election.
