Biography

After preliminary practice in the art of drawing and painting at local schools, he joined Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai and obtained Diploma in Painting in 1964. Studied Mural techniques at faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda, in 1967 under the guidance of Professor K.G. Subrahmanyam.

He has held many solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions at all the major cities of India. He was an active member of DISHA - a creative artists group which projected the contemporary social situation in India. He joined Doordarshan Kendra, Hyderabad in 1972. He was trained at Film and [2] Institute of India FTII, Pune in 1976 and 1982 in the field of "Film and Television Programme Production Techniques", became trained Television Producer and continued working for Doordarshan Kendra and retired as Assistant Station Director, Doordarshan Kendra in 1996.

He was conferred Doctorate in "Television Communication and role of Indian Culture" in 2003, Osmania University Hyderabad.

At present he is practicing as a professional painter. [3]

Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh is a painter, poet and art critic from Gujarat, India. He was awarded the Padmashri in 1983 and Padmabhushan in 2014 for his contribution in field of art.

Jayasri Burman is a contemporary Indian artist. She studied at the Kala Bhavan in Shantiniketan, and at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, where she completed a Master of Arts in painting. She went to Paris and studies print-making under Monsieur Ceizerzi.

Sachida Nagdev Indian artist

Sachida Nagdev was an Indian painter based in central Indian town of Bhopal.

Akbar Padamsee was an Indian artist and painter, considered one of the pioneers in Modern Indian painting along with S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza and M.F. Husain. Over the years he also worked with various mediums from oil painting, plastic emulsion, water colour, sculpture, printmaking, to computer graphics, and photography. Suresh Bhardwaj is an Indian theatre, film and television director as well as a lighting and scenic designer. He is the director of (Aakar Kala Sangam) (AKS), a Delhi based theatre group. He has also served as faculty member of the National School of Drama In 2005 he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for lighting design from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama.

Pratiksha Apurv Indian painter

Pratiksha Apurv is an Indian painter, whose work is based on her uncle Osho's teachings. Before moving to painting, she was a successful fashion designer. Apurv won the National Award 2015-16 given by the Lalit Kala Akademi, Ministry of Culture for her painting 'Cosmic Balance', and has exhibited her artwork across the country. Her artwork has featured in books and magazines, and in 2018 she wrote and illustrated her own book, The Mystic and Her Colours.

Jatin Das is an Indian painter, sculptor and muralist. He is counted amongst the most contemporary artists of India.

Pakhal Tirumal Reddy, known as P T Reddy, was an Indian artist. He was the fifth child born to Ram Reddy and Ramanammachild at Annaram village, Karimnagar district, Telangana, India. He received his diploma in painting from J. J. School of Art, Bombay in 1939. He married Yashoda Reddy on 9 May 1947, and she completed a master's of art and Ph.D. degrees and authored over 22 compilations and novels.

Ramkishan Adig

Arshad Sauleh

Arshad Sauleh is a noted and veteran contemporary artist of international repute and a radio broadcaster born in a Muslim family at Srinagar in the summer capital of Kashmir who has remained host/judge of several noted art exhibitions besides he is teaching art at Government College of Education in Srinagar. Sauleh is an inspired artist from his father and Iranian Artist. Arshad Sauleh was honored by his homeland and foreign country several times along with this he has received many awards for his artistic work. Arshid Sauleh has specialised in figurative painting after completing his degree in fine arts from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts in 1992. Arshid Sauleh is also interested in singing Urdu songs and playing his accordion.

D. P. Roy Choudhury

Debi Prasad Roy Choudhury MBE (1899–1975) was an Indian sculptor, painter and the founder chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi. He was known for his bronze sculptures, including Triumph of Labour and Martyr's Memorial, and is rated by many as one among the major artists of modern Indian art. He was a fellow of the Lalit Kala Akademi, selected in 1962. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1958, for his contributions to Art.

Sadhu Aliyur was an Indian (watercolor) painter and art teacher from Kerala, India. He has done a workshop on the art of watercolor painting at the State Gallery of Fine Arts. He co-founded "Colouring India foundation" a non profit organisation.

The GROUP 1890 exhibition was held from 20 to 29 October 1963 at Lalit Kala Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan in New Delhi, India. It was the only exhibition of the artist collective 'group 1890', hence the only existing record of the group's exhibition history in the 1960s contemporary art in India. The group was an entirely male association with 12 members which 'stood passionately and romantically for values of modernism that signaled change'. The members were Raghav Kaneria, M. Reddeppa Naidu, Ambadas Khobragade, Rajesh Mehra, Gulam Mohammed Sheikh, Jagdish Swaminathan, Himmat Shah, Jeram Patel, S. G. Nikam, Eric Bowen, Jyoti Bhatt, and Balkrishna Patel. All of which participated in this inaugural exhibition.

Sangeeta Gupta

Sangeeta Gupta, a retired Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, is an Indian abstract artist, poet and filmmaker. She is the first woman who qualified Civil Services from her district in Uttar Pradesh, India. She is an officer of 1984 batch IRS. Her artistic journey so far consist of 35 solo exhibitions of paintings, 20 published books including twelve anthologies of poems in Hindi and three in English. From her collection of poems, 9 books are translated into German, Greek, Mandarin, English, Bangla, Dogri and Urdu. She has also directed, scripted and shot 7 documentary films which are in the collection of Library of Congress, US. Song of the Cosmos is her creative biography.
