Jeff Atkins (born April 7, 1964) is a former American football running back. [1]
Atkins grew up in the Butler housing project in Fort Worth, Texas. [2] He attended Fort Worth's Eastern Hills High School. As a senior, he rushed for 2,333 yards and scored 25 touchdowns. He was the No. 1 recruit from Texas. [3] He rushed for 310 and 329 yards in individual games and was later described as "the most celebrated player in the history of Fort Worth high school football." [2]
He played college football as a tailback for the SMU Mustangs from 1983 to 1986, tallying 3,260 rushing yards and scoring 31 touchdowns. [4] He set an SMU freshman record with 218 rushing yards against Rice. [2] He also broke Earl Campbell's Southwest Conference freshman rushing record. [5]
He was not selected in the NFL draft and tried out, unsuccessfully, with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1987. [2] [6] He attempted a comeback and played in several games for the Dallas Texans of the Arena Football League during the 1991 season. [7] [8]
Marion Sylvester Barber III was an American professional football player who was a running back for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL draft. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 during his six-year tenure with the Cowboys. He played for the Chicago Bears in 2011.
Jesse Craig James is an American former professional football player and sports commentator. He was a running back for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL) and for the Washington Federals of the United States Football League (USFL). He then became a commentator for the ABC and ESPN television networks. James ran for a seat in the U.S. Senate in Texas in 2012, but lost in the first round of the Republican primary.
Brian Jeffrey Symons is an American former professional football quarterback. Symons played for the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL), the Frankfurt Galaxy and Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe, and the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League (AFL). He was selected by the Texans in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL draft. He played college football for Texas Tech where he was a record setting passer. Symons never played in a regular season NFL game.
The 2008 Texas A&M football team represented Texas A&M University in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by first-year head coach Mike Sherman, who replaced Dennis Franchione after the previous season.
Edorian McCullough is a former sprinter and American football cornerback and running back. He won the Texas high school championship in the 100 meters in consecutive years as a junior and senior and set district records with 340 rushing yards in a single game and 1,755 yards in a season. Rated as one of the top high school football players in the country, he signed with the University of Texas where he played in all 13 games as a true freshman and was selected as the Longhorns' Outstanding Defensive Newcomer Award. He left the University of Texas after one season due to academic issues and transferred to the City College of San Francisco, where he was selected as a Junior College All-American in 2004. He signed with Oregon State University in 2005, but he failed to meet the school's academic requirements and did not play for the Beavers. In 2006, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent, but he was released in early September 2006 as part of the final cut before the start of the regular season. He was a member of the 2007 Frankfurt Galaxy team that lost the NFL Europa championship to the Hamburg Sea Devils in World Bowl XV. He signed with the West Texas Roughnecks of the Indoor Football League in 2010.

He previously played for the Texas A&M Aggies and TCU Horned Frogs. In his first start with the Aggies, he broke Johnny Manziel's school single-game passing yards record with 511 yards.
