Jeff Deren (born July 22, 1981 in Springfield, Massachusetts) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Western Mass Pioneers in the USL Second Division.
Springfield is a city in the state of Massachusetts, United States, and the seat of Hampden County. Springfield sits on the eastern bank of the Connecticut River near its confluence with three rivers: the western Westfield River, the eastern Chicopee River, and the eastern Mill River. As of the 2010 Census, the city's population was 153,060. As of 2017, the estimated population was 154,758, making it the third-largest city in Massachusetts, the fourth-most populous city in New England after Boston, Worcester, and Providence, and the 12th-most populous in the Northeastern United States. Metropolitan Springfield, as one of two metropolitan areas in Massachusetts, had a population of 692,942 as of 2010.

Western Mass Pioneers is an American soccer team based in Ludlow, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1998, the team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.
Deren grew up in Chicopee, Massachusetts, attended Chicopee Comprehensive High School, and played college soccer at University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was named to the All-Atlantic 10 second-team as a sophomore in 2000 and All-Atlantic 10 first-team in 2001 and 2002. He was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in 2001 and in 2002. He left the University as the schools all time leader in Goals for a career, Goals in a single season, Points in career and Points in a single season. He was named as an All-American in 2001 and 2002.
Chicopee is a city located on the Connecticut River in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States of America. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 55,298, making it the second largest city in Western Massachusetts after Springfield. The current mayor is Richard Kos.

College soccer is played by teams composed of soccer players who are enrolled in colleges and universities. While it is most widespread in the United States, it is also prominent in South Korea and Canada. The institutions typically hire full-time professional coaches and staff, although the student athletes are strictly amateur and are not paid. College soccer in the United States is sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the sports regulatory body for major universities, and by the governing bodies for smaller universities and colleges. Deren turned professional in 2003 with the Western Mass Pioneers, where he has remained ever since, becoming the Pioneers' longest-serving player. He has made over 110 appearances and scored over 35 goals for the Pioneers, helping the team to the USL Second Division regular season championship in 2005.
Deren has also played professionally overseas in Belgium and most notably Denmark. He has also played professional indoor soccer, playing several seasons for the Massachusetts Twisters in the National Indoor Soccer League and its predecessor leagues. [1]
