Jeff Strabone [3] is a Brooklyn-based American scholar, political activist and civic leader. In 2016, his website directelection.org listed the names and addresses of members of the U.S. Electoral College, and he urged people to write to electors to ask them not to vote for president-elect Donald Trump, an effort which brought him national attention. [4] [2] [5] [6] As a civic leader in Brooklyn, he has been active in promoting theatre preservation, [7] building codes and housing issues, [8] [9] hospital preservation, [10] [11] [12] [13] and traffic flow. [14] He has been a leader of Brooklyn's Cobble Hill Association, a neighborhood preservation group. [15] [16] He is the co-founder and chairman of the New Brooklyn Theatre. [17] [18] [19] [20]
In 2008, he changed his middle name to Hussein as a show of solidarity with then presidential candidate Barack Obama, who was running for the office of president, and whose Muslim-sounding middle name had been widely commented on. [21] [22] [23] [24] He is an associate professor of English and teaches British and African literature, and he was granted tenure at Connecticut College in 2016. [25] He commented about the post-election effort:
The electors are elected officials so we have every right to write to them ... There’s no place to get [their] addresses ... So I realized that if one person could do all the work — gathering their addresses, creating a downloadable, printable template for a letter and even the labels ... I decided to be that person ... it immediately went viral and people responded ...

The other two electors vote based upon the statewide results. See below in the section of Electors for more information.

The Polhemus Memorial Clinic in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, New York City was built in 1897 as an extension of a hospital for the poor on the corner of Henry and Amity streets. It was officially inaugurated January 5, 1898. Throughout most of its lifetime, 1897 to July 2008, it was part of the Long Island College Hospital (LICH). Joseph Korom, the author of The American Skyscraper (2008), considers the eight-story tower to be the first skyscraper hospital ever built. The 2016 United States presidential election was the 58th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The Republican ticket of businessman Donald Trump and Indiana governor Mike Pence defeated the Democratic ticket of former secretary of state and First Lady of the United States Hillary Clinton and the United States senator from Virginia Tim Kaine, in what was considered a large upset. Trump took office as the 45th president, and Pence as the 48th vice president, on January 20, 2017. It was the fifth and most recent presidential election in which the winning candidate lost the popular vote. It was also the sixth presidential election, and the first since 1944, in which both major party candidates were registered in the same home state.

Robert Satiacum Jr. is an American political and environmental activist and member of the Puyallup tribe of Washington. He served as a Democratic presidential elector for the 2016 election. By voting for Faith Spotted Eagle, the first Native American to receive an electoral vote for president, Satiacum did not vote as pledged, and as such is regarded as a faithless elector.
In the 2016 United States presidential election, ten members of the Electoral College voted or attempted to vote for a candidate different from the ones to whom they were pledged. Three of these votes were invalidated under the faithless elector laws of their respective states, and the elector either subsequently voted for the pledged candidate or was replaced by someone who did. Although there had been a combined total of 155 instances of individual electors voting faithlessly prior to 2016 in over two centuries of previous US presidential elections, 2016 was the first election in over a hundred years in which multiple electors worked to alter the result of the election.
Faith Spotted Eagle is an American activist and politician. She is a member of the Yankton Sioux Nation who attempted to block development of the Keystone XL pipeline and the Dakota Access Pipeline.
In United States presidential elections, the tipping-point state is the first state that gives the winning candidate a majority of electoral votes, thereby securing the candidate's victory in the Electoral College, when all states are arranged in decreasing order of their vote margins for the ultimate winner.
