Blue Velvet is a 1986 American neo-noir mystery thriller film written and directed by David Lynch. Blending psychological horror with film noir, the film stars Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper, and Laura Dern, and is named after the 1951 song of the same name. The film concerns a young college student who, returning home to visit his ill father, discovers a severed human ear in a field. Desierto is a 2015 thriller film co-written and directed by Jonás Cuarón. It was produced by Cuarón together with his father Alfonso and his uncle Carlos, and distributed by STXfilms. The film stars Gael García Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It was shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) for Special Presentations, and was selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated.

It was replaced by Oh, My Mama! in its timeslot.

Akyat Bahay Gang is a 1988 Filipino crime film directed by Efren C. Piñon and starring Lito Lapid, Zandro Zamora, Dick Israel, Lito Gruet, Chuck Perez, Jean Saburit, Angela Perez, and Paquito Diaz. Produced by Falcon Films, a subsidiary of Viva Films, it was released on April 20, 1988. Critic Luciano E. Soriano gave the film a negative review, criticizing its lack of suspense and unexciting action, though he noted it was better than other films showing in theaters at the time.
