Jemima Nartemle Nartey of Accra, Ghana was 2017 to 2021 Vice-Chair and one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. [1] [2] [3]
An alumnus of Labone Senior High School, Jemima studied Women and Gender Studies at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Public Relations at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and French at Mount Mary College of Education, Somanya, Ghana. [4]
In 2017, she was elected as First Vice Chairperson of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement at the 41st World Scout Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. She occupied this position until 2021. [4] With over 25 years as an educationist, Jemima Nartey founded and is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Happy Kids Schools. [5]
Former Deputy Chief Commissioner at the Ghana Scout Association, Jemima was awarded the Silver World Award, a distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) in 2018.
She was inducted in 2018 as a member of the Seed Transformation Network Ghana, under the Stanford Seed Transformation Program. [6]
In 2022, Jemima was awarded the 382nd Bronze Wolf, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee for exceptional services to world Scouting.
The World Organization of the Scout Movement is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the counterpart of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is a global association supporting the female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with these bodies.
Scouting Ireland is one of the largest youth movements on the island of Ireland, a voluntary educational movement for young people with over 45,000 members, including over 11,000 adult volunteers early 2020. Of the 750,000 people between the ages of 6 and 18 in Ireland, over 6% are involved with the organisation. It was founded in 2004, following the amalgamation of two of the Scouting organisations on the island. It is the World Organization of the Scout Movement-recognised Scouting association in the Republic of Ireland. In Northern Ireland it operates alongside The Scout Association of the UK and the Baden-Powell Scout Association.
The Silver World Award is a distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It is presented for noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on an international basis. Recipients must be a citizen of a country with a Scouting program that is a member of the World Scout Conference. Registered members of the BSA are not eligible for this award.
Thérèse Bermingham from Killiney, Ireland was one of 12 elected volunteer members and former Vice-Chairman of the World Scout Committee, one of the most senior roles in the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
Nkwenkwe Nkomo of South Africa is the group deputy chairman of FCB SA, South Africa's largest marketing communication group, and chairperson of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) of South Africa. He also served as one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. As an anti-apartheid student activist in the 1970s, he was one of the so-called "SASO nine" imprisoned on Robben Island for six years.
Mari Nakano of Japan is one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Nakano is the first woman to represent the Asia-Pacific Scout Region on the governing body. She served as the World Jamboree Organizing Committee Chairman, and was elected to the World Scout Committee at the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil in January 2011 and was re-elected at the 40th World Scout Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2014. She served as the chairperson of the Jamboree management team for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree up to 2015.
Karin Ahlbäck of Malax, Finland was a member of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement until the World Scout Conference in 2017. From 2008 to 2011, Ahlbäck served as Youth Advisor to the World Scout Committee representing the World Scout Youth Forum, serving in the Educational Methods Committee, Registration Fee Task Force and World Scout Youth Forum 2011 Planning Committee, and was elected to the World Scout Committee at the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil in January 2011, and again at the 40th World Scout Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2014.
João Armando Pereira Gonçalves, ComIH of Figueira da Foz, Portugal is the former chairperson of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. He was a member of the European Scout Committee for a period of six years, elected in 2004 and again in 2007, and was elected to the World Scout Committee at the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil in January 2011. He was re-elected to the committee at the 40th World Scout Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2014.
Dr. Abdullah bin Suleiman al-Fahad of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Alfahad served as Vice President of the Assembly of Scouting of the Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association, officially opened the Saudi delegation's exhibition at the 21st World Scout Jamboree in 2007, served as Chairman of the Arab Scout Committee and was elected to the World Scout Committee at the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil in January 2011. His term on the World Scout Committee will expire at the 40th World Scout Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2014, but he will be eligible for re-election for one additional term.

Since then, Craig has served as the Deputy UK Chief Commissioner for Transformation. In 2022, he was awarded the Bronze Wolf Award for his contributions to world scouting.

Janaprith Salinda Fernando of Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Colombo Law Society President, serves as the Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association and an elected volunteer member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) from 2012 to 2018.He is currently serving in the World Scout Committee, the World Organisation of the Scout Movement's highest governing body. Fernando was elected to this body in August 2017 by the 41st World Scout Conference, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
