Somanya is a town and the capital of Yilo Krobo District, a district in the Eastern Region of south Ghana. [2] Somanya has a 2013 settlement population of 20,596 people.And currently has a settlement population of 16,441,362 in the year 2021. Because the town is surrounded by a number of farming communities to the north of it, the name Somanya is used to encompass a collection of smaller communities around a bigger one. As a result, the 2010 Population and Housing Census conducted by the Government of Ghana put the population of Somanya at 87,847, representing 3.3% of the region's total population. Males constitute 48.2 percent of the population while females represent 51.8 percent, according to the Ghana Census Bureau. The entire Krobo district is described as rural, and Somanya is the municipal district center of the surrounding smaller towns. With the capital of Ghana, Accra, rapidly expanding northwards, the traveling distance between Somanya and Accra is shrinking and now is around 30 miles (48 km). The temperatures are highest on average in March, at around 28.4 °C. At 25.1 °C on average, August is the coldest month of the year.
The municipal has a household population of 86,567 with a total number of 20,613 households. The average household size in the municipality is 4.2 persons per household. Children constitute the largest proportion of the household structure accounting for 39.4 percent. Spouses form about 10.5 percent. Nuclear households (head, spouse(s) and children) constitute 26.3 percent of the total number of households in the district. [1]

As of 2021 census, the Accra Metropolitan District, 20.4 km2 (7.9 sq mi), had a population of 284,124 inhabitants, and the larger Greater Accra Region, 3,245 km2 (1,253 sq mi), had a population of 5,455,692 inhabitants. In common usage, the name "Accra" often refers to the territory of the Accra Metropolitan District as it existed before 2008, when it covered 199.4 km2 (77.0 sq mi). This territory has since been split into 13 local government districts: 12 independent municipal districts and the reduced Accra Metropolitan District (20.4 km2), which is the only district within the capital to be granted city status. This territory of 199.4 km2 contained 1,782,150 inhabitants at the 2021 census, and serves as the capital of Ghana, while the district under the jurisdiction of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly proper (20.4 km2) is distinguished from the rest of the capital as the "City of Accra".
Ho is the capital city of the Ho Municipal District and the Volta Region of Ghana. The city lies between Mount Adaklu and Mount Galenukui or Togo Atakora Range, and is home to the Volta Regional Museum, a cathedral, and a prison. It was formerly the administrative capital of British Togoland now part of the Volta Region. The population of Ho Municipality according to the 2010 Population and Housing Census is 177,281 representing 8.4 percent of the region's total population. Females constitute 52.7 percent and males represent 47.3 percent. About 62 percent of the population resides in urban localities. The Municipality shares boundaries with Adaklu and Agotime-Ziope Districts to the South, Ho West District to the North and West and the Republic of Togo to the East. Its total land area is 2,361 square kilometers thus representing 11.5 percent of the region's total land area.
Techiman is a city and is the capital of Techiman Municipal and Bono East Region of Ghana. Techiman is a leading market town in South Ghana. Techiman is one of the two major cities and settlements of Bono East region. Techiman is home to West Africa's largest traditional market. Techiman has a settlement population of 104,212 people in 2013. Techiman is located at a historical crossroads of trade routes and the Tano River, and serves as capital of the Techiman Municipal District.

Nsawam is a town in south Ghana and is the capital of the Nsawam-Adoagyire Municipal District, a district in the Eastern Region of south Ghana. The main ethnic group is Akan, followed by Ga and then Ewe. Nsawam is controlled by Nsawam-Adoagyire Municipal District (ASMD). As of 2013, Nsawam has a settlement population of 44,522 people. Nsawam is situated on the main railway between Accra and Kumasi and highway to Kumasi. It has Densu river acting as a border between itself and Adoagyiri. Densu River, is the main source of water for both domestic and industrial purposes for people in and around Nsawam.

The Accra Metropolitan District is one of the 254 Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts in Ghana, and among the 26 such districts in the Greater Accra Region with a population of 284,124 as of 2021. As of March 2018, it spans an area of approximately 60 km2 (23 sq mi) and encompasses the Ablekuma South, Ashiedu Keteke, and Okaikoi South sub-metropolitan district councils.
Yilo Krobo Municipal District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Yilo Krobo District, which it was created from the former Kaoga District Council, until it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 6 February 2012 to become Yilo Krobo Municipal District. The municipality is located in the eastern part of Eastern Region and has Somanya as its capital town.
Bawku Municipal District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Bawku East District; which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1439, until the southern part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor in August 2004 to create Garu-Tempane District; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Bawku Municipal District. However, on 28 June 2012, two parts of the district were later split off to create Binduri District and Pusiga District respectively; thus the remaining part has been retained as Bawku Municipal District. The municipality is located in the eastern part of Upper East Region and has Bawku as its capital town.
Alexander Narh Tettey-Enyo is an educationist and politician. He has been the Member of Parliament for Ada since 2005 and the Ghanaian Minister for Education between 2009 and 2011.
Taifa is a town in the Ga East Municipal District, a district in the Greater Accra Region of south-eastern Ghana near the capital Accra. Taifa is the twenty-sixth largest settlement in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 68,459 people. Taifa is located in the northwest suburbs area of Accra. It has a breakpoint on a railway line and a small park located on the northern edge of the location of the Taifa Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. At the Ghana 2000 census of 26 March 2000, the population was 26,145 inhabitants living in the city. Projections of 1 January 2007 estimated the population to be 48,927 inhabitants. In the census of 1984 there was only 1,009 inhabitants. The strong population growth of the Town is influenced by, among other things, many illegal immigrants from west African countries who move to towns and villages near the industrial town of Tema to find a job.
Gbawe is a town in the Greater Accra Region of southeastern Ghana near the capital Accra. Gbawe is the twenty-third largest settlement in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 74,403 people. Gbawe is located a few kilometres west of Accra in the Ga South Municipal Assembly. At the Ghana census of 26 March 2000, the population was 28,989 inhabitants living in the Town. Projections of 1 January 2007 estimated the population to be 52,910 inhabitants. In the census of 1984, only 837 residents were listed, and in 1970 it was the 608th largest settlement in Ghana. The Town was founded more than 100 years ago. Today the Town has a more rural structure in the large-scale marked suburban development areas.
Zabzugu is a small town and is the capital of Zabzugu district, a district in the Northern Region of north Ghana. It has a nucleated settlement and less populated. Most of the people there are farmers and their main produce is Yam.
Magnus Kofi Amoatey is the MP-elect for the Yilo Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He will be a member of the sixth parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana after the new parliament is sworn in on 7 January 2013 upon the dissolution of the fifth parliament at midnight on 6 January 2013. According to official results released by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Amoatey won in all but 3 of the 124 polling stations of the Yilo Krobo constituency and polled a total of 26,584, representing 61.49% of valid votes cast.
Afadzato South District is one of the eighteen districts in Volta Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Hohoe District on 10 March 1989, until the southern part of the district was split off to create Afadzato South District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining portion has been retained as Hohoe Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the northern part of Volta Region and has Ve Golokwati as its capital town.
The Krobo people are an ethnic group in Ghana. They are grouped as part of Ga-Adangbe ethnolinguistic group and they are also the largest group of the seven Dangme ethnic groups of Southeastern Ghana. The Krobo are a farming people who occupy Accra Plains, Akuapem Mountains and the Afram Basin.
Mount Mary College of Education is a teacher education college in Somanya. The college is located in Eastern / Greater Accra zone. It is one of the 46 public Colleges of Education in Ghana. The college participated in the DFID-funded T-TEL programme.
Emmanuel Humphrey Tettey Korboe was a Ghanaian politician in the first republic. He served as a regional commissioner for the Eastern Region and later for the Central Region. He also served as a member of parliament for the Yilo-Krobo constituency and later the Somanya constituency.
Raymond Tawiah Abraham is an Ghanaian politician accountant who was a member of the fifth and fourth parliaments of the fourth Republic of Ghana, representing the Yilo Krobo constituency in Eastern Region.
