Berekum is a city and is the capital of Berekum Municipal in the Bono Region of Ghana. [2] [3] [4] Berekum has a population of 62,364. [1] The native language of the Berekum people is the Bono Twi. As at 2020, the Omanhene of Berekum was Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II. [5]

The Brong-Ahafo region was a region in central Ghana. Brong-Ahafo was bordered to the north by the Black Volta river and to the east by the Lake Volta, and to the south by the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani. Brong-Ahafo was created on 14 April 1959 from the then Western Ashanti and named after the main ethnic groups, the Brong and Ahafo. It was later upgraded to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Berekum Municipal District on 29 February 2008; until the western part of the district was split off to create Berekum West District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Berekum East Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Berekum as its capital town.

Jinijini is a town in the Bono Region of Ghana. 'Gyenegyene' is the Akan word for Jinijini which means pure, clear, still. It is the capital town for Berekum West district which was inaugurated on 15 March 2018. It is about 7 km, 39 km and 412 km away from Berekum, Sunyani and Accra respectively. Jinijini is also known for the Jinijini Senior High School (Jinss); a second cycle institution which started around mid 1990. The school celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011.
