Abetifi is a small town in south Ghana and is the capital of Kwahu East district, a district in the Eastern Region of south Ghana. [1] [2]

The Eastern Region is located in the Eastern part of Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Kwahu is an area and group of people that live in Ghana and are part of the Twi-speaking Akan group. The region has been dubbed Asaase Aban, or the Natural Fortress, given its position as the highest habitable elevation in the country. Kwahu lies in the Eastern Region of Ghana, on the west shore of Lake Volta. The Kwahus share the Eastern Region with the Akyem and Akuapem, as well as the Adangbe-Krobos. Among Kwahu lands, a significant migrant population works as traders, farm-hands, fisherfolk, and caretakers in the fertile waterfront 'melting pot' of Afram plains. These migrants are mostly from the Northern and Volta Regions, as well as, some indigenous Guans from the bordering Oti and Brong-Ahafo regions live in the Afram Plains area. Kwahus are traditionally known to be wealthy traders, owning a significant number of businesses and industries in Ghana.

Nkawkaw is a town in southern Ghana and is the capital of Kwahu West Municipal, an area in the Eastern Region of south Ghana. Nkawkaw has a 2013 settlement population of 61,785 people. Nkawkaw is also described as a city in a valley as it the gateway to ascend the Kwahu mountains. Hon. Joseph Frempong is the current member of parliament for the Kwahu West who was elected in the 2020 elections.

Kwahu South District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, it was created from the former Kwahu District Council. Bryan Acheampong is a Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament of Abetifi constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party of Ghana. He succeeded Peter Wiafe Pepera, who died while in office. He was the Minister of State at the Ministry of Interior between February 2019 to 2020. In 2016, he bought Okwawu United F.C. and currently serves as the Minister of Agriculture.

Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education is a teacher education college in Abetifi-Kwahu. The college is located in Eastern / Greater Accra zone. It is one of about 40 public colleges of education in Ghana. The college participated in the DFID-funded T-TEL programme.

Friedrich Augustus Louis Ramseyer also Fritz Ramseyer was a Swiss-born Basel missionary, who was captured by the Asante in 1869 in colonial Ghana, together with his wife Rosa Louise Ramseyer, Basel mission technical staff, Johannes Kühne and French trader, Marie-Joseph Bonnat. Ramseyer was later released in 1874 and pioneered the Christian mission in Kumasi and the rest of Asante. Additionally, he spearheaded the planting of churches in Abetifi. Apart from his evangelism, Ramseyer was instrumental in the expansion of opportunities in the fields of education, artisan industry training, land acquisition for building design and manpower development in the areas he lived and worked in.

Eric Osei-Owusu is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Afram Plains South Constituency in the Eastern Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.

Benjamin Kofi Asamoah was a Ghanaian politician in first republic. He was the member of parliament for the Abetifi constituency from 1965 to 1966. Prior to entering parliament he was the District Commissioner for the Kwahu district and the New Juaben District. He also served as the Eastern Regional Secretary for the Convention People's Party.

Erasmus Isaac Kwesi Preko was a Ghanaian politician. He was a minister of state and a member of parliament during the first republic. He was the Minister of Fuel and Power from 1965 to 1966, the member of parliament for the Kwahu North constituency from 1954 to 1965, and later the member of parliament for the Afram constituency from 1965 to 1966.
