Achiase is a town which doubles as the district capital of Achiase District which was carved out of the Birim South District in February 2019 in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Achiase is also referred to as Akim Achiase, Akyem Achiase or Akyem Akyease and officially, most documents refer to this town as Akim-Achiase. On Google maps, it is listed as Akyease. The Chief of Achiase (Achiasehene) is the 2nd In command of the Ninfa Division of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area. The Achiasehene, Daasebre Gyenin Kantan II, plays a critical role traditionally labeled Takwa which translates as Military Intelligence Unit and thus, his title is Takwahene in the Abuakwa Traditional Area which literally means Intelligence Chief. Achiase also houses a Military Jungle Warfare Training School [1] for the Ghana Military named Seth Anthony Barracks. This military school also offers strategic training to corporate organisations which seek its services. Over the years, multinationals like MTN are among the corporate bodies who have been trained at this facility. [2]
The Eastern Region is located in the Eastern part of Ghana and is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Eastern region is bordered to the east by the Lake Volta, to the north by Bono East Region and Ashanti region, to the west by Ashanti region, to the south by Central region and Greater Accra Region. Asamankese is a town in south Ghana and is the capital of West Akim Municipal District, a district in the Eastern Region of south Ghana. Asamankese has a 2013 settlement population of approximately 39,435 people. Asamankese is on the main highway to Kumasi and Accra in the interior. The people of Asamankese celebrate the Obuodwan festival.
The Akyem are an Akan people. The term Akyem is used to describe a group of four states: Asante Akyem, Akyem Abuakwa, Akyem Kotoku, and Akyem Bosome. These nations are located primarily in the eastern region in south Ghana. The term is also used to describe the general area where the Akyem ethnic group clusters. The Akyem ethnic group make up between 3-4 percent of Ghana's population depending on how one defines the group and are very prominent in all aspects of Ghanaian life. The Akyem are a matrilineal people. The history of this ethnic group is that of brave warriors who managed to create a thriving often influential and relatively independent state within modern-day Ghana. When one talks of Ghanaian history, there is often mention of The Big Six. These were six individuals who played a big role in the independence of Ghana. Of the big six, people of Akyem descent made up the majority.
Kibi or Kyebi is a town and the capital of the East Akim Municipal District, a district in the Eastern Region of south Ghana, on the eastern slopes of the Atewa Range.Kibi lies at an altitude of 318 m and in 2013, had a population of 11,677 people.
The Birim River is one of the main tributaries of the Pra River in Ghana and the country's most important diamond-producing area, flowing through most of the width of the Eastern region. The river rises in the east of the Atewa Range, flows north through the gap between this range and the Kwahu Plateau, then runs roughly south-west until it joins the Pra. It gives its name to the Birimian rock formation, which yields most of the gold in the region. Ghana is the second largest producer of gold in Africa.

Ofori Panin Senior High School (OPASS) is a co-educational second cycle institution at Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Ofori Panin School, is a co-educational boarding school located at Tafo in Akyem, Eastern Region, Ghana. The school was founded in 1961 by Kwame Nkrumah. The foundation stone of the building was laid on 19 May 1962 by Hon. Kofi Asante Ofori Attah, M.P. for Akim Abuakwa and Minister of Justice at that time. An alumnus/alumna of Ofori Panin is known as an "Opassian".

Nana Kuntunkunuku II was a traditional ruler in Ghana and Paramount Chief of Akyem-Abuakwa in the Eastern Region. His official title was Okyehene - King of Akyem. He succeeded his uncle, Ofori Atta III, and ruled the Akyems for 23 years. He was succeeded by Amoatia Ofori Panin II. He was the seventh president of the National House of Chiefs and served from 1998 till his death in 1999.
David Asante was a philologist, linguist, translator and the first Akan native missionary of the Basel Evangelical Missionary Society. He was the second African to be educated in Europe by the Basel Mission after the Americo-Liberian pastor, George Peter Thompson. Asante worked closely with the German missionary and philologist, Johann Gottlieb Christaller and fellow native linguists, Theophilus Opoku, Jonathan Palmer Bekoe, and Paul Staudt Keteku in the translation of the Bible into the Twi language.
Robert Yaw Addo Fening is a Ghanaian historian who has made major contributions in documenting the history of Akyem Abuakwa and of Ghana. He has been accorded the award of Okyeman Kanea in recognition of his historical works. For several years he taught at the University of Ghana.
Akim Achiase Senior High School is a second cycle co-educational institution located in Akim Achiase in the Achiase District, near Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The school has its motto in the Akan language reading "Nsiye Bu Mmusu Abasa Mu" which means Perseverance Conquers Difficulties. It has the nickname of ACHISEC. Old students of Achisec have an association called OSAASSS formed to support the development of the school. Achisec can boast of their powerful cadet because they are situated in the same town with Ghana Army's Jungle Warfare School named, Seth Anthony Barracks. The colours of their school uniforms include blue, yellow and green. The school currently offers the following courses: General Science, Business, General Arts, General Agriculture, Home Economics and Visual Arts.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger East Akim District in 1988, which was created from the former East Akim District Council, until the northern part of the district was split off to create Abuakwa North Municipal District on 1 June 2018; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Abuakwa South Municipal District. The municipality is located in the central part of Eastern Region and has Kukurantumi as its capital town.
