Anyinam is a town and capital of the Atiwa East District located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Anyinam is the birthplace of Osei Tutu. According to Gus Casely-Hayford, "Today Anyinam remains sacred to the Asante." The village contains a shrine in commemoration of Osei Tutu's birth. [6]

Osei Kofi Tutu I was one of the founders of the Ashanti Empire, assisted by Okomfo Anokye, his chief priest and a distant relative from the town of Awukugua - Akuapem. Okomfo Anokye (c.1655-c.1717?/c.1719) was the first priest (Okomfo) of the Ashanti Empire. Anokye is known for his participation in the expansion of the empire. He was also the codifier of the constitution and laws of the Ashanti Empire.
