Nungua is a town in Krowor Municipal District in the Greater Accra Region of southeastern Ghana near the coast. [2] Nungua is the eighteenth most populous settlement in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 84,119 people. [1]

Politics

Nungua is located within Krowor Constituency led by Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, [3] a member of the National Democratic Congress, [4] who succeeded Elizabeth Afoley Quaye of the New Patriotic Party. [5]

Traditions

The people of Nungua are Ga AdangbesThey celebrate the Kpledzoo festival. [6] They are in eight clans, namely: Nii Mantse We, Nii Moi We, Nii Borte We, Nii Adzin We, Nii Borkwei We, Nii Osokrono We, Nii Odarteitse We, and Nii Djenge We. The paramount chief of Nungua is King (Dr) Odaifio Welentsi III. [7]

Transport

Nungua is accessible by rail, [16] road [17] and sea. It is served by a station on the eastern network of the national railway system. A bridge that was out of service for some time was repaired in 2009. Taxi, tro tro (mini buses), Metro Transit Buses are available on road. canoes are also used by local folks along the beach. [18]

Joshua Alabi is a Ghanaian academic and politician, who served as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) from 2012 to 2016. The Nungua Senior High School is a second cycle institution found in the township of Nungua. The school was setup to educate young graduates who have finished Junior High School (JHS). The school was built by the government of Ghana.

Margaret Clarke-Kwesie is a former Ghanaian politician and Deputy Minister of Health from 1993 to 2001 under the Rawlings government. In the 1996 General Elections held in Ghana, she won the seat as the Member of Parliament for Ga South Constituency under the flag of the National Democratic Congress with 52.20%.
