The Brong-Ahafo region was a region in central Ghana. Brong-Ahafo was bordered to the north by the Black Volta river and to the east by the Lake Volta, and to the south by the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani. Brong-Ahafo was created on 14 April 1959 from the then Western Ashanti and named after the main ethnic groups, the Brong and Ahafo. In 2019, as a result of the 2018 Ghanaian new regions referendum, the region was divided into three, namely Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions, and ceased to exist.
Sunyani is the capital city of the Bono Region and the Sunyani Municipal of Ghana. Sunyani had a population of 1,208,649 at the 2021 population and housing census. The city consists mainly of the Bonos, Akans other tribes.
Tano South Municipal District is one of the six districts in Ahafo Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tano District in 1988, until the western part of the district was split off to create Tano North District in December 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Tano South District. It was later elevated to municipal district assembly status in April 2018 to become Tano South Municipal District. The municipality is located in the eastern part of Ahafo Region and has Bechem as its capital town.

It has a paramount chief and rotates among the three Royal clans in the paramountcy, namely Keleta, Kelempota, and Soome. The paramountcy stool is vacant due to protracted litigation between the Keleta and the Kelempota clans as to who succeeds the now-deceased Nana Kwabena Efeda.

Kintampo is a town and tourist destination in the Bono East Region of Ghana. It became the capital of Kintampo North Municipal in 2004. Kintampo has a population of 111 000. It also served as the capital of the former Kintampo District. Kintampo also has Senior High Schools (KINSS) which is located at Kyeremankoma, has participated in the National Science Quiz on numerous occasions. Modern Senior High School (MODESS). Kintampo Technical Institute- KINTECH and Centre College Senior High School. There is a college of health called Kintampo College of Health and Well-being (CoHK) in the town, which is proposed to become a full fledge University. Most of the population in Kintampo are farmers, with production focused on yams, maize, legumes, tubers and other vegetables. Both the Bono and the Mo tribe are indigenous to the town and shares traditional land boundaries. Kintampo is a cosmopolitan town, apart from the indigenous tribe, other settler tribes like the Wangaras, Gonjas, Konkombas and others are also inhabitants of the town. The annual Benkadi Kurubi festival of the Wangara community in Ghana always takes place at Kintampo.

St. Joseph's College of Education is a teacher education college in Bechem. The college is located in Ashanti / Brong Ahafo zone. It is one of the about 40 public colleges of education in Ghana. The college participated in the DFID-funded T-TEL programme. It was established in 1948 by Rev. Fr. Joseph Moulders. It is the first training college in the Brong-Ahafo Region and attained accreditation status in 2007.It is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Serwaa Kesse Girls' Senior High School is a female public school located in Duayaw Nkwanta in the Tano North Municipal District in the Ahafo Region of Ghana. In September 2022, they emerged as winners in the 2022 National Business Pitch Competition which was held in Accra.
