Weija is a small town and is the capital of Ga South Municipal District, a district in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. [1] [2] Weija has become a hotspot for economic activity because of the ultra modern shopping center, the West Hills Mall, [3] which has been built there.

It no longer has a representation in the Parliament of Ghana and does not elect a Member of Parliament (MP). The former Weija is located in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

Ga South Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga West District in 2004, until the western part of the district was split off to create the first Ga South Municipal District on 29 February 2008, with Weija as its capital town; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Ga West Municipal District. Later, a small portion of the district was split off to create Ga Central Municipal District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga South Municipal District. However on 15 March 2018, the northern part of the district was split off to create a new Ga South Municipal District, with Ngleshie Amanfro as its capital town; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Weija-Gbawe Municipal District, with Weija as its capital town. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Ngleshie Amanfro as its capital town.

Taifa is a town in the Ga East Municipal District, a district in the Greater Accra Region of south-eastern Ghana near the capital Accra. Taifa is the twenty-sixth largest settlement in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 68,459 people. Taifa is located in the northwest suburbs area of Accra. It has a breakpoint on a railway line and a small park located on the northern edge of the location of the Taifa Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. At the Ghana 2000 census of 26 March 2000, the population was 26,145 inhabitants living in the city. Projections of 1 January 2007 estimated the population to be 48,927 inhabitants. In the census of 1984 there was only 1,009 inhabitants. The strong population growth of the Town is influenced by, among other things, many illegal immigrants from west African countries who move to towns and villages near the industrial town of Tema to find a job.

Weija Dam is a dam on the Densu River which supports the main water treatment plant for Accra in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It is operated by the Ghana Water Company.This supplies about 80 percent of the potable water for the entire city of Accra and its surrounding environs.
