Barekese is a town and capital of the Atwima Nwabiagya District within Ashanti Region, Ghana. [1] It is home to the Barekese Dam and Barekese Senior High School. [2]
Ghana, officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country in West Africa. The Volta River is the main river system in the West African country of Ghana. It flows south into Ghana from the Bobo-Dioulasso highlands of Burkina Faso. The main parts of the river are the Black Volta, the White Volta, and the Red Volta. In the northwest, the Black Volta forms the international borders between the Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Burkina Faso. The Volta flows southward along the Akwapim-Togoland highlands, and it empties into the Atlantic Ocean at the Gulf of Guinea at Ada Foah. It has a smaller tributary river, the Oti, which enters Ghana from Togo in the east. The Volta River has been dammed at Akosombo for the purpose of generating hydroelectricity. The reservoir named Lake Volta stretches from Akosombo Dam in the south to the northern part of the country, and is the largest man-made reservoir by area in the world.
The Akosombo Dam, also known as the Volta Dam, is a hydroelectric dam on the Volta River in southeastern Ghana in the Akosombo gorge and part of the Volta River Authority. The construction of the dam flooded part of the Volta River Basin and led to the subsequent creation of Lake Volta. Lake Volta is the largest man-made lake in the world by surface area. It covers 8,502 square kilometres (3,283 sq mi), which is 3.6% of Ghana's land area. With a volume of 148 cubic kilometers, Lake Volta is the world's third largest man-made lake by volume; the largest being Lake Kariba which contains 185 cubic kilometers of water.
Axim is a coastal town and the capital of Nzema East Municipal district, a district in Western Region of South Ghana. Axim lies 64 kilometers west of the port city of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region, west of Cape Three Points. Axim has a 2013 settlement population of 27,719 people.

It is located in the north of the country and was the largest of the sixteen regions, covering an area of 70,384 square kilometres or 31 percent of Ghana's area until December 2018 when the Savannah Region and North East Region were created from it. The Northern Region is divided into 14 districts. The region's capital is Tamale.
Nkawie is a large agrarian and service town and the capital of Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, a district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Nkawie is located on the western stretch of the Kumasi Bibiani road and bounded by two other major towns. - Toase and Abuakwa. It is home to prosperous business men in Ghana. There is a government hospital, a fire service station, a secondary technical institution and other government institutions like the courts, education offices, health insurance office, post office and the new immigration offices. The Forestry Commission is the second highest revenue earner in the forestry services in Ghana. The Owabi dam also supplies water to the south of the municipality. The famous Barekese dam also located in the Municipality supplies water to about 75% of Kumasi. Politically, the Town is an electoral bank for the New Patriotic Party. Nkawie is the home town of former Ghanaian president John Kufuor.
Bongo District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988; which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1446. The municipality is located in the central part of Upper East Region and has Bongo as its capital town.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which it was created from the former Kaoga District Council. Obuasi Municipal District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Adansi West District in 1988, until part of the district was split off to create Obuasi Municipal District on 15 December 2003 ; whose remaining parts had been absorbed into parts of Adansi North District and Adansi South District respectively. Later, the eastern part of the district was split off to create Obuasi East District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been retained as Obuasi Municipal District. The municipality is the southern part of Ashanti Region and has Obuasi as its capital town.
The Ofin River is an easterly-flowing waterway in Ghana. It flows through the Tano Ofin Reserve in Ghana's Atwima Mponua District.
Fishing in Ghana is made up of both ocean caught fish, as well as freshwater fishing in lakes and rivers.
Akumadan is the capital of Offinso North, a district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It has a population of about 20000. Akumadan township is well known for its agricultural activities. All sorts of food crops can be planted on its soil but tomatoes is the largest crop. 90 percent of natives above 18 years are tomato farmers. They produce more tomatoes than any other town in Ghana. It has a dam that helps to irrigate some farmlands within its reach during dry seasons. Cassava, pepper, onion, garden eggs, plantain, maize etc. are also abundant. A company called Fomghana has acquired a large area of land for planting trees near a river that irrigates it. Recently, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo formally opened a Greenhouse project. Its poised to train young people in Agric Technology.
Tono Dam is one of the largest agricultural dams in western Africa, located in Kassena-Nankana District of Upper East Region, northern Ghana.The 2km long dam irrigates some 2,490 hectares of land.
Barekese Senior High School ('Basec) is a coeducational high school in Barekese in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The Savannah Region is one of the newest regions of Ghana and yet the largest region in the country. The creation of the Region follows presentation of a petition by the Gonja Traditional Council, led by the Yagbonwura Tumtumba Boresa Jakpa I. Upon receiving favourable responses from all stakeholders in the Northern Region, the Brobbey Commission, a referendum was conducted on the 27th December 2018. The result was a resounding yes of 99.7%. The President of the Republic of Ghana signed and presented the Constitutional Instrument (CI) 115 to the Yagbonwura in the Jubilee House, Accra on 12 February 2019. The launch was well attended by sons and daughters of Gonjaland including all current and past Mps, MDCEs and all appointees with Gonjaland descent. Damongo was declared the capital of the new Savannah Region. It is located in the north of the country. The Savannah Region is divided into 7 districts; Bole, Central Gonja, North Gonja, East Gonja, Sawla/Tuna/Kalba, West Gonja, North East Gonja and 7 Constituencies; Bole/Bamboi, Damongo, Daboya/Mankarigu, Salaga North, Salaga South, Sawla/Tuna/Kalba and Yapei/Kusawgu. The capital of Bole district is Bole; East Gonja municipal is Salaga; West Gonja district is Damango; Sawla Tuna Kalba district is Salwa; Central Gonja is Buipe; North Gonja is Daboya; and North East Gonja is Kpalbe
Atwima Nwabiagya North District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Atwima Nwabiagya District on 17 February 2004; until the northern part of the district was split off to create Atwima Nwabiagya North District on 15 March 2018; while the remaining part has been renamed as Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal District when it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on that same year. The district assembly is located in the western part of Ashanti Region and has Barekese as its capital town.
Mim lake, originally known as the Anwomasu Lake, is an Inland lake located on the outskirts of Mim in the Asunafo North Municipal District in the Ahafo Region of Ghana. The lake is a latent tourist site and has the potential of a lake Resort. Revellers often visit it for leisure.
