Sunyani West District is one of the twelve districts in Bono Region, Ghana. [4] [5] Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Sunyani District on 10 March 1989; until the northwest part of the district was split off to create Sunyani West District on 1 November 2007 (effectively 29 February 2008); thus the remaining part has been retained as Sunyani District (which it was later upgraded to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Sunyani Municipal District on that same year). The district assembly is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Odumase as its capital town.

Tertiary institution

Sunyani West is notable in then Bono Ahafo Region for hosting the first University of the region. The Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre attracts students from all the country which transforms Fiapre in the past ten years. Fiapre is now mainly occupied by the elite group because of the students in both Catholic University College and University of Energy and Natural Resources. Even though the University of Energy and Natural Resources is not officially declared to be in Sunyani West, by the geographic location it is part of the district with the main campus planned to be situated at Nsoatre also in the Sunyani West.

Senior High Schools

Sunyani West has four public Senior High Schools which serves students within the Bono Region and beyond. The renowned Notre Dame Girls is one of the preferred choice for girls in Ghana.

The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.

Brong-Ahafo region Region in Ghana

The Brong-Ahafo region was a region in southern Ghana. Brong-Ahafo was bordered to the north by the Black Volta river and to the east by the Lake Volta, and to the south by the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani. Brong-Ahafo was created on 14 April 1959 from the then Western Ashanti and named after the dominant and native inhabitants, Akans, Brong and Ahafo. In 2019, as a result of the 2018 Ghanaian new regions referendum, the region was divided into three, namely Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions, and ceased to exist.

Ashanti Region Region of Ghana

The Ashanti Region is located in south Ghana and it is the third largest of 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of 24,389 km2 (9,417 sq mi) or 10.2 percent of the total land area of Ghana. In terms of population, however, it is the most populated region with a population of 4,780,380 according to the 2011 census, accounting for 19.4% of Ghana's total population. The Ashanti Region is known for its major gold bar and cocoa production. The largest city and regional capital is Kumasi.

Upper East Region Region of Ghana

The Upper East Region is located in north Ghana and is the third smallest of the 16 administrative regions in Ghana. It occupies a total land surface of 8,842 square kilometers or 2.7 per cent of the total land area of Ghana. The Upper East regional capital is Bolgatanga, sometimes referred to as Bolga. Wenchi Municipal District Municipal District in Brong-Ahafo, Ghana

Wenchi Municipal District is one of the twelve districts in Bono Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Wenchi District, until the western part of the district was split off to create Tain District on 12 November 2003 ; thus the remaining part has been retained as Wenchi District. It was later elevated to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Wenchi Municipal District on 29 February 2008. The municipality is located in the northeast part of Bono Region and has Wenchi as its capital town.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources is a public-funded university in Ghana, that was established by an Act of the Parliament of Ghana, Act 830, 2011 on December 31, 2011. The University is a public funded national institution which seeks to provide leadership and management of energy and natural resources and be a centre of excellence in these critical areas. The University approaches its programmes and research emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and taking into account, areas such as economics, law and policy, management, science, technology and engineering as well as social and political issues affecting energy and natural resources.

The Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College is public tertiary health institution in the Sunyani in the Bono Region of Ghana. The is in the Sunyani Municipal District. The activities of the institution is supervised by the Ministry of Health. The University of Ghana awards a Diploma in Nursing after students from the institution have successfully completed a three-year nursing training programme. The institution is accredited by the National Accreditation Board. The Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the body which regulates the activities, curriculum and examination of the institution. The Council's mandate Is enshrined under section 4(1) of N.R.C.D 117.

Abesim Place in Bono Region, Ghana

Abesim is a town in Sunyani Municipal District in the Bono Region of Ghana. Abesim is very close to the regional capital town of the Bono Region, Sunyani. Bono Region Region of Ghana

The Bono region is one of the 16 administrative regions of Ghana. It is as a result of the remainder of Brong-Ahafo region when Bono East region and Ahafo region were created. Sunyani, also known as the green city of Ghana is the regional capital. Sunyani can pride itself as the cleanest capital city and a major conference destination.

Victor Ferkah Ghanaian broadcast journalist

Victor Ferkah is a Ghanaian broadcast journalist and radio personality who currently works for Sky FM (96.7) Ghana as part of his community service. Aside from radio, he works full-time as a senior administrative assistant at the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani. Ferkah is also the Founder and CEO of the Ferk Relief Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Sunyani, Ghana. He is a graduate of the Catholic University College of Ghana (Fiapre) and a student of law.
