Jaman South Municipal District is one of the twelve (12) districts in Bono Region, Ghana. Originally known as Jaman District on March 10, 1989, after being created from the former Berekum-Jaman District within the then-larger Brong-Ahafo Region. Later on, part of the district was split off to create Jaman North District on November 12, 2003; thus the remaining original part became Jaman South District . [1] It was later upgraded to municipal status in November 2017, and renamed as Jaman South Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Drobo as its capital town. [2]
It shares common borders with Berekum West District the south-east, Jaman North District to the North, Dormaa Municipal to the south and La Côte d'Ivoire in the west. The Municipal has a total land area of about 700 km2 (270 sq mi) and about 130 settlements most of which are rural communities and have a population less than 400. It has a total land area of 1,500 km2 (580 sq mi).

Ivory Coast is a sub-Saharan nation in southern West Africa located at 8° N, 5° W. The country is approximately square in shape.

Accra is the capital and largest city of Ghana, located on the southern coast at the Gulf of Guinea, which is part of the Atlantic Ocean. As of 2021 census, the Accra Metropolitan District, 20.4 km2 (7.9 sq mi), had a population of 284,124 inhabitants, and the larger Greater Accra Region, 3,245 km2 (1,253 sq mi), had a population of 5,455,692 inhabitants. In common usage, the name "Accra" often refers to the territory of the Accra Metropolitan District as it existed before 2008, when it covered 199.4 km2 (77.0 sq mi). Dormaa Ahenkro is a city and also the capital of Dormaa Traditional Area Dormaa Municipal of the Bono Region, in Ghana. Dormaa Ahenkro has a historical reference for their brave warlords. Dormaa Ahenkro is the capital for the Dormaa traditional area and serves as the seat of the Paramount chief Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman Badu II, Dorma stool was elevated to paramouncy in 1935 by Sir OSIE Agyemang Prempeh 1, successor of Nana Agyeman Badu Iwho sworn allegiance to Otumfuo Sir Agyemang Prempeh as traditional demands. The successor of Nana Agyemang Badu I rebel against the Ashanti Kingdom to whom the Dormaa paramountcy owe allegiance to. In effect, the Dormaahene, Nana Agyemang Badu II was restrained from attending the funeral of the Brekumhene, Nana Amankona Diawuo II through court order on Thursday, November 23, 2023. The Dormahene expressed disappointment in the court for exercising such restrain against him during his address to his subjects at his palace. Right next to him at his palace was a table occupied by assorted alcoholic beverages which questions the credibility of the leader to be drinking in public.
The Accra Metropolitan District is one of the 254 Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts in Ghana, and among the 26 such districts in the Greater Accra Region with a population of 284,124 as of 2021. As of March 2018, it spans an area of approximately 60 km2 (23 sq mi) and encompasses the Ablekuma South, Ashiedu Keteke, and Okaikoi South sub-metropolitan district councils.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Wenchi District, until the western part of the district was split off to create Tain District on 12 November 2003 ; thus the remaining part has been retained as Wenchi District. It was later elevated to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Wenchi Municipal District on 29 February 2008. The municipality is located in the northeast part of Bono Region and has Wenchi as its capital town.
Drobo is a town located in the Jaman South Municipality, one of the twelve administrative districts in Bono Region of Ghana. It shares common borders with Berekum East District to the south-east, Jaman South District to the South, Dormaa Municipal to the West and La Côte d'Ivoire in the east. The Municipal with its capital at Drobo has a total land area of about 700 km and about 1300 settlements most of which are rural and have a population less than 400. It has a total land area of 500 square kilometres.
Lambussie Karni District is one of the eleven districts in Upper West Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Jirapa/Lambussie District in 1988; until the northern part of the district was later split off to create Lambussie-Karni District on 29 February 2008; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Jirapa District. The district assembly is located in the northwest part of Upper West Region and has Lambussie as its capital town.
Asunafo North Municipal District is one of the six districts in Ahafo Region, Ghana. It was formerly part of the then-larger Asunafo District from 1988 until the southern part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 12 November 2003 to become Asunafo South District. The remaining northern part was renamed as Asunafo North District which was later elevated to municipal status on 29 February 2008 to become Asunafo North Municipal District. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Berekum District on 10 March 1989, which was created from the former Berekum-Jaman District Council. It was later upgraded to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Berekum Municipal District on 29 February 2008; until the western part of the district was split off to create Berekum West District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Berekum East Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Berekum as its capital town.
Japekrom is the Municipal Capital of Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region of Ghana. It has been an important town since the colonial Gold Coast days in Ghana's History, then referred to as Pruano but spelled as Pulliano in colonial Gold Coast maps. The Japekromhene is part of Asanteman council. The township was built on a foundation of solid stone and as a result of resistance to any form of suppression or oppression. Traditional leaders of the Japekrom strongly uphold the principles of truth, fairness, hard work, a welcoming heart, inclusion and preservation of culture. The people of Japekrom are very welcoming of people from other tribes and cultures.
La Dade Kotopon Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Accra Metropolitan District in 1988, until the eastern portion of the district was split off to create La Dade Kotopon Municipal District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been retained as Accra Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has La as its capital town.
Berekum West is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Berekum West is located in the Berekum Municipal District of the Bono Region.

Munufie Festival is an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Mpuasuman-Japekrom Traditional Area in the Jaman South District in the Bono region, formerly Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. It is usually celebrated in the month of October. The people of Mpuasu-Japekrom Traditional Area also celebrate theirs in September. The people and chiefs of Abi Traditional Area also celebrate theirs in September.
