It was created by Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment, at the time a division of Warner Communications and the original owner of MTV, and launched on January 1, 1985, in the former space of Turner Broadcasting System's short-lived Cable Music Channel. The channel is currently owned by Paramount Global.

Couples Therapy is an American reality television show airing on the cable network VH1 that chronicles reality television performers as they receive relationship counseling from psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Mann and her staff. The first season, which consists of eight episodes, premiered March 21, 2012 and featured participants such as rapper DMX and Linda Hogan. The second season premiered on October 3, 2012, and features Doug Hutchison and his wife, Courtney Stodden. VH1 renewed the show for a sixth season, which premiered October 7, 2015.
Tiffany Pollard is an American television personality. She came to public prominence for her participation on the first two seasons of VH1's Flavor of Love (2006–2007). Pollard was given the nickname "New York" by rapper Flavor Flav. She is also known colloquially by her self-proclaimed nickname "HBIC" – an acronym for "Head Bitch in Charge" – which she exclaimed in the Flavor of Love series to taunt her competitors. Couples Therapy is an American television series on the Showtime network. The series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on April 18, 2021. An extended third season premiered on May 13, 2022. It was shown on BBC Two in the UK and is available to watch for free in the UK on the BBC's iPlayer service. The show filmed new couples for the second half of season three which finished filming towards the end of 2022 and premiered on April 28, 2023. The entire back half of the season was put up for streaming and on-demand viewing on this date; linear airings will be two episodes per week.
