The University of Waterloo is a public research university with a main campus in Waterloo,Ontario,Canada. The main campus is on 404 hectares of land adjacent to uptown Waterloo and Waterloo Park. The university also operates three satellite campuses and four affiliated university colleges. The university offers academic programs administered by six faculties and thirteen faculty-based schools. Waterloo operates the largest post-secondary co-operative education program in the world,with over 20,000 undergraduate students enrolled in the university's co-op program. Waterloo is a member of the U15,a group of research-intensive universities in Canada.

The Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) is a centre for advanced research and teaching on global governance and international public policy,located in Waterloo,Ontario. As one of the largest social sciences initiatives in Canada,the school is a collaborative partnership between the University of Waterloo,Wilfrid Laurier University,and the Centre for International Governance Innovation. The BSIA is an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs,a group of schools that educate leaders in international affairs. The BSIA is housed in the north and west wings of the CIGI Campus. Admission to BSIA is highly selective.

Suzanne K. Kearns is a Canadian author,academic,and professor of aviation who works at the University of Waterloo. She is the Founding Director of the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Aeronautics (WISA) and teaches within the Aviation programs. Her research specializations are aviation safety,training methodologies,and human factors. She is best known as the founder of WISA,author of several aviation books and Series Editor of the 'Aviation Fundamentals' textbook series,and for her work supporting the International Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) programme and Global Aviation Training initiatives with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Marie-Claire Cordonier Segger is a full professor,senior executive,an international expert in policy,law and governance on climate change,biodiversity,human rights,trade,investment and financial law and the world's Sustainable Development Goals. She currently serves as Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge,UK;executive secretary of the global Climate Law and Governance Initiative (CLGI) and senior director of the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL). She is also a Fellow in Law &LLM/MCL Director of Studies at the Lucy Cavendish College;fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law;visiting fellow at the Bennett Institute for Public Policy and Fellow at the Cambridge Centre for Energy,Environment &Natural Resource Governance. Further,she is full professor at the University of Waterloo School of Environment,Enterprise and Development in Waterloo,Ontario,Canada,where she is also senior fellow at the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) and senior advisor to the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3). She serves as chair of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Biodiversity Law &Governance Initiative;rapporteur for the International Law Association Committee on Sustainable Natural Resources Management;co-founder member of the board of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) of Canada;member of the International Law Association (ILA) Board of Canada;co-founder and councillor of the World Future Council.
Linda Faye Nazar is a Senior Canada Research Chair in Solid State Materials and Distinguished Research Professor of Chemistry at the University of Waterloo. She develops materials for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Nazar demonstrated that interwoven composites could be used to improve the energy density of lithium–sulphur batteries. She was awarded the 2019 Chemical Institute of Canada Medal.
Julia Margaret Wright is a professor in the Department of English and University Research Professor at Dalhousie University. Wright is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
Leah F. Vosko is a professor of political science and Canada Research Chair at York University. Her research interests are focused on political economy,labour rights,gender studies,migration,and citizenship. In 2015,she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
Marion Janine Brodie is a Canadian political scientist. She is a Distinguished University Professor and a Canada Research Chair in Political Economy and Social Governance at the University of Alberta. Brodie was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2002 and honoured with the Order of Canada in 2017.
Nandita Basu is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Global Water Sustainability and Ecohydrology at the University of Waterloo. Her research is centered on anthropogenic effects on water availability and quality via changes in land use and climate. Basu is recognized for her work on discovering the impact of nutrient legacies and proposed solutions to improving water quality of lakes and coastal zones.
Jennifer G. Murphy is a Canadian environmental chemist and an associate professor at the University of Toronto. She is known for her research how air pollutants such as increased reactive nitrogen affect the global climate.
Ayelet Shachar is a legal scholar. She is the Director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen. She previously held the Canada Research Chair in Citizenship and Multiculturalism at the University of Toronto.
Carolyn M. Hansson is a Canadian materials engineer. She was the first female student to attend the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College,London,and the first woman to graduate with a PhD in metallurgy from there. Hansson was honoured for pioneering a monitoring system for evaluating the integrity of concrete structures.
Vivek Goel is the current President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waterloo. As a physician and public health researcher,he was also a university administrator,and served as a special advisor to the president and provost of the University of Toronto,and as a professor for the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
Alison Mountz is an American political geographer. She is a full professor and Canada Research Chair at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. In 2016,Mountz was elected a member of the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Scholars,Artists,and Scientists.
Janusz Boleslaw Pawliszyn is a Polish chemist. He is a Canada Research Chair at the University of Waterloo and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Chair in New Analytical Methods and Technologies.
