Jerie Burchard Clark is an American sailor who was named US Sailor of the Year in 1966.
Clark began sailing with her parents, Boyd and Bonnie Burchard, when she was two years old. [1] She grew up racing boats, even wishing to race on a Wednesday night rather than attend her high school graduation. [2]
In 1966, Clark won North American Women's sailing championship. [3] She sailed with Renate McVittie and Mary Anne Easter, and they were first women from the west coast to win this event which is also known as the Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy. [4] Clark had previously competed in the event in 1960 as crew for Rae Ellen Syverson where they finished third; in 1962 she skippered a Lightening to a 7th-place finish. [1] Clark finished second in the 1970 Adams Cup races held in Victoria, British Columbia. [5]
In addition to racing, Clark also taught sailing in the Seattle area. [1]
She met her future husband, Robert Donovan Clark while sailing at the University of Washington. They were married in 1962. They sailed Lightnings together, winning multiple regattas in the class. [1]

Dawn Riley is an American sailor, and a pioneer in the sport of sailboat racing. She is in the National Sailing Hall of Fame and the international America's Cup Hall of Fame. The youngest and only female to be a 'dual-famer' this. She sailed in four America's Cup races and two Whitbread Round the World races. She was the watch captain on Maiden, the first all-women's entry in the Whitbread race, and was the team captain of the first all-women's team in the America's Cup. She later established the America True Foundation to encourage youth participation in sailing. Since 2010 she has run Oakcliff Sailing dedicated to Building American Leaders Through Sailing
Allison Blair Jolly is an American sailor and Olympic champion. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Jolly began sailing at the age of 10 and attended the Florida State University where she won the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Championships in 1975 and 1976. In 1976 she placed second in the European women's championship, and also took second place in the Timmy Angsten Regatta. In 1976, at the age of 20, she became the youngest woman ever to win the US Sailor of the Year Awards, "considered the top prize in yachting in the U.S." and was presented the award again after the Olympics in 1988. In 1979, she won the Adams Cup with the St. Petersburg Yacht Club team.
The Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy, or Adams Cup for short, was the competition for the United States Women's Sailing Championship. The donor of the award was Francis Lovering Adams the wife of Charles Francis Adams III, former Secretary to the Navy and skipper of the 1920 America's Cup winner Resolute. It had its origins in the 1924 Hodder Cup. The Adams Cup was raced annually until 2011. Now retired, the Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy is on display in the Reading Room of the Tom Morris Library at the National Sailing Hall of Fame.
Hannah Louise Mills, is a British competitive sailor and two-time world champion in the Women's 470 class, having won in 2012 and 2019. Mills won a silver medal for Team GB with her crew Saskia Clark in the 2012 Olympics, she followed this up with a gold in the same event at both the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and, partnered by Eilidh McIntyre, the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
